25 kgs??? That's just under half of my whole body weight, man!

Well done, Chris! you should be very proud of yourself.

I was reading on George Osborne's weight loss. He does something like 5:2 diet thingy. Look at him now. I know you don't like him, but I think he has done really well with his weight loss.

Anyone from SN tried 5:2 diet and exercise programme?

Yes, but give him some credit for re-shaping his body to a better one. Don't be so mean.

Light weights, I weigh 15st or 95kg, flat stomach, 6ft tall. I am reasonable fettle at the moment, resting heart rate 41 bpm, and can now comfortably do 75 milers as training sessions. My power to weight is improving with interval and weight sessions and am pleased so far with early winter training, not bad for a 50 yr old

Objectives for next spring/summer are to make it back from a Sunday club run in the pack, as I usually get dropped with 10 -15 miles from home(riding with faster young guys) Coast to coast, maybe in one day and with the kids, London to Paris over 4 days.

Same V02 Max as a Premier League footballer, resting pulse under 50, sub 6min/mile over 5k (or 18 mins) (6m15s over 10k or sub 40 mins), a mile in open water in well under 30 mins, 100 press ups or 25 pull ups no problem, triathlon winner, all sort of weird gymnastic "stunts" and a sub 12% bf %age.

Certainly not as "ripped" as some but there's no need.

Why the pointless ***** waving? Because I'm Matt. Its what I do. I can't help myself

All you had to say was "and I'm probably fitter than most and very happy with that".

But anyway - this tread was about drinking. And yet you've turned it round to diet and fitness (yours!)

In your haste to have a pop at me, you clearly forgot to read the previous posts. To which my post is completely RELEVANT. It also crosses over from another thread.

Excuse me for using facts rather than vague sound bites but I do like to make points clear rather than just waffle.

Funny that you're the only one to pick up on it; a loooong time after it was posted...

Anyway I'm still doing naff all as I'm fighting off something. I reckon an OAP on a Zimmer frame could currently outpace me.

You yourself acknowledged that it was "pointless ***** waving"

Anyway - hope you feel better soon

Okay, the usual over-reaction. Nearly mended - bloody bored of it though.
A brisk walk to the nearest headland and back helped prevent me turning into the stroppyest **** in Cornwall.

If I can't exercise, I get twitchy as hell.

Anyway, back to the OT - I am now enjoying an ice cold bottle of Becks.

She hit the bottle again after experiencing repeated bereavement trauma. I doubt if she has any social life. Alcoholics tend to drive people away. Good to see that her loyal dog still keeps her company. Animals don't speak or lecture, they don't stop you from doing anything and they're at your disposal. Best companions for people with some problems/ issues.

Daily Mail is one sh7tty newspaper for sure; for making the obvious story cheaply adorned with too many inane photographs; to prove her alcoholism. No need to mock her either like that. What's the point of putting a picture of her wine bottle on its own that she bought??? Very cheap shot indeed.

Look, it's got chelsea written on it....

Good incentive, but have to worry about overdoing it competing with people half your age

Their comments section sums it up...most people commenting have the same view that the daily mail has sunk to further lows.

Would send a complaint to the press regulator, but as we know that'll be pointless.

Not sure if you were asking me as I wasn't quoted, but as this was asked immediately after my post I'll answer, so forgive me if I'm wrong in that assertation.

I genuinely had no idea who she was until I clicked on the link and scrolled right down and saw the "in prime" shot of her towards the bottom of the article. Not really an avid 'Enders fan, but certainly recognise her from said "in prime" photo. She is certainly not instantly recognisable to me without the aid of the before and after photos. Hence why it is so shocking to me.

If the Mail is knocking around at work, which it generally is, I'll have a read. Clearly one of those papers that likes it's angle on topics, but you can balance that view with the views of the other papers. Everyone knows that the only plausible view on anything in a newspaper is that coming from a pair of FF ***** in the Sport though right?!

Do you look as bad as her at your 10 years older state? I don't think so.

She's looking worse than you do because of her alcoholism. She may not have been an oil painting, but she once looked with a bit of a happy colour in her. Now she looks unrecognisable for sure.
