To my knowledge there are no headers ' to get the burble back' unless you convert the car to a non twin scroll set up - or maybe have the headers and associated parts custom made by Hayward & Scott or a similar company.
The shape of the headers around the oil pan is one thing but as there seems to be space to fit regular headers, but it will need custom parts somewhere and I suspect that as the twin scroll turbo, exhaust and twin scroll cams are matched to get the best out of the torque through the mid range, the conversion will make it a much worse spooling driving car.

Yep. No brainer.
Pit a 350bhp JDM WRX against a 400bhp JDM STI and see the true meaning of haste.
One will return 35mpg too and the other 20mpg.
One will be cheaper to maintain too and insure.
Going by like for like drivers a 360bhp JDM WRX will match JDM STI's up to 460 for pace, hitting 460bhp 0-100mph speeds at 360bhp will be insanely cheaper and due to the strong JDM WRX engine the only weakness will be the gearbox, at 460 the STI will be on limited time across the board.
I'd love to know the transmission loss difference between the Newage STI and WRX. I bet it's considerable.
Pit a 350bhp JDM WRX against a 400bhp JDM STI and see the true meaning of haste.

Surely to get that 350bhp your using sti parts tho. Ie turbo and injectors
It's only really the transmission that you prefer. What about the crap brakes that come on the wrx's the brembos are better, as is the sti suspension is better, I could keep going

Some even suggested that the roller readings were wrong and that it was nearer 500.
I tried tubular equal length back to back with standard headers and the car made the same power, but drove nicer on standard. We lost a smidge of torque according to the rollers [ 5 lbs ] But the driving feel was much worse.
The original headers are welded inside the pipe and it looks like a gain to port out the weld. In fact all that happens is that the weakened area where the weld has been fettled burns away and you end up with broken headers.
Then you would go with Tubular replacement as buying twin scroll original headers is not easy these days. AND 2.0 Hatch ones are different to Hawk / Blob.

You have 2 options, buy an STI map it to 350 and pay a few hundred converting to a 5 speed - this is contentious but crucial. This in my experience is like adding 100 shot of NOS. The 6 speed at 450, is heavy, responsible for significant transmission loss and is bordering on unusable in 1st and 2nd gear. (I've posted enough revealing 1/4 times on here to not have to prove it further.)
Or buy a JDM WRX and get the aftermarket/STI bits you need to hit 350.
I suppose both WRX/STI options require TBE/fuel pump so it just leaves the need for a £300 VF35/VF34 OR £50-100 TD05 and £100 Pinks.

A stock 240bhp JDM WRX v stock 280bhp JDM STI would certainly be interesting on the track and strip. The short rations are very useful for the heavy STI at these levels. Start increasing power levels and it gets really interesting. Don't forget a JDM WRX has AVCS heads, no up-pipe cat, less weight and a TD04 turbo so out of tight corners it could be f**K*ng sensational. An STI owner will always have to stay ahead of the game though as a 280bhp JDM WRX will skin a stock STI on the track. Power at the wheels, spool and car weight will strongly favour the WRX. It's well known that the 2009 WRX WRX was a bit of an embarrassment for Subaru as it was considerably faster then the 2009 STI, I expect many models through the years were. I also expect the brilliant Newage JDM WRX is still an unknown quantity in 2014 due to STI snobbery and good Subaru marketing.

Hang on a minute! 1st & 2nd are exactly the same ratios on a JDM 6 speed as a UK / Euro 6 speed.
So all 6 speeders are rubbish in 1st and 2nd ??
