Thanks,Jura
I prefer long ratios on drag strip and my brother too prefer this too,as many will say 06 DCCD STI box is best for drag strip, just due longer ratios
Hope this help
Thanks,Jura

Mikee Singh's SCR classic weighs 750kg, a 1/4 calculator states 288bhp will see a 10.99 pass.
That'd be a fun car to own! Don't even have to worry about emissions come MOT time!

I'll have to concede the Newage STI is the better car now.
Do you know what the ratios of the 06 STI box are Jura?
2003 WRX box is:
3.166 2nd 1.882 3rd 1.296 4th 0.972 5th 0.738
All classics?
1st 3.785 2nd 1.945 3rd 1.500 4th 0.994 5th 0.780/(0.735 WRX) - Final 4.11 (3.90 WRX)
04-05 STI
1st 3.636 2nd 2.375 3rd 1.761 4th 1.346 5th 0.971 6th 0.756
Does the Hawkeye box just have a shorter final drive that's the same as the WRX?
I can't find any info about the Bugeye ratios.

How to say,6 speed is better choice because is lot stronger than 5speed,you can run late STI gearbox without the issue at low 700bhp and I think few guys run them at low 800bhp without the issue
Gear ratios of the 06 STI
(1st) 3.636, (2nd) 2.235, (3rd) 1.521, (4th) 1.137, (5th) 0.891, (6th) 0.707
Bugeye ratios I've somewhere and too PPG ratios which we are run,I would say PPG is best gearbox if you are thinking about the drag strip more and you are not running high 500bhp,beyond 600bhp I would go with probably dog box or Albin Kit which have similar ratios as PPG
I know only speed per gears, but in 3rd at 7800RPM we can do 112mph and in 4th at 7800rpm we can do around 144mph and 5th this depends on the final gear and diff, gearing is very similar to the 4EAT(Autobox) what we are run
And probably best drag strip box, then I would speak with Toni Rigoli about his box or you can go with Sequential box, depends on your budget, both choices are expensive
WRX is not bad car,but if I would go again with Subaru,I would go with STI,its better car in standard form,WRX is nice car as daily car
And if you want to build track car,get classic, its better from only one point and this point is is not so heavy like New age,
Hope this help
Thanks,Jura

Cheers that man!
From what I've read tonight about handling 750bhp stock and having shorter ratios/final drive the Hawkeye STI is one seriously bad *** car.
Best Scoob ever made?

looking on that page Classics run all manner of ratios and the BUG looks like it has the same ratios as the blobs.
TBH this above site looks to contradict this one
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Subaru_transmissions
wiki: MY03 WRX: 1st 3.166 2nd 1.882 3rd 1.296 4th 0.972 5th 0.738
Gearhack: US MY03 WRX: 3.454 1.947 1.366 0.972 0.738
I'm not so sure what's what now. The JDM Newage STI's seem to have impossibly short 6th gears, they must be disastrous on fuel compared to the UK STI.

So basically Newage boxes
3.454 1.947 1.366 0.972 0.738 - my blob WRX
3.636 2.375 1.761 1.346 0.971 0.756 - fat thomas UK STI
3.636 2.235 1.521 1.137 0.891 0.707 - Hawk box UK STI
3.636 2.375 1.761 1.346 1.062 0.842 - JDM STI
3.166 1.882 1.296 0.972 0.738 - JDM WRX box, but different final drive and I'm not clued up enough to be able to compare.

US Legacy L & Brighton MY01-02 has these ratios with the same final drive, straight fit? Are the non WRX boxes ok for 350lbft?
3.454 2.062 1.448 1.088 0.780 - TY754VCBAA
That'd probably improve my times and make general driving more fun.

Agree on that, off course conditions will make or break the times, but as you are said, when there is no power then, you shouldn't expect from 200hp car to make 10 sec pass
Thanks,Jura
Not sure how much, but I would suspect high 600bhp and possibly early 700bhp,but as above gearing will be important
I prefer long ratios on drag strip and my brother too prefer this too,as many will say 06 DCCD STI box is best for drag strip, just due longer ratios

I guess I won't be seeing the 9s this year coming then, maybe 2016 then.

Quick read on NASIOC states in standard form the stock 4EAT is only good for 300lbft, so I guess the big power builders have uprated or race spec built 4 speeds.

Are they? What about the stall speed on the torque converter? Is it not a bit low?

3000rpm - 3200rpm is the right stall speed for a daily driver. That's the standard stall speed for a turbo convertor. However, after this length of time the lock-up material in the convertor is probably disintegrating, and blocking channels in the valve body.
On stock convertors:
Non-turbo stall is 2350 - 2750
Turbo stall speed can range 2650 - 3300
A torque convertor is like a clutch. Fully off the clutch pedal, is equivalent to the stall speed on a torque convertor. But like a clutch, that's still partly depressed, a torque convertor will still give forward movement, before the stall speed is reached.
For max acceleration the stall speed should match the rpm at max torque, of your particular set up.
For a turbo daily driver, the stall speed should be the point a which the turbo begins to make boost. As the turbo increases boost, the the stall speed increases, may be by 400-600rpm. So, on a turbo, it depends if your considering stall speed on or off boost.
Between those two points is a daily driver or drag car - you choose the principle focus of your car.
