We have had a hotpoint for 8 odd years, and it has been pretty reliable - I have had to fashion a few DIY repairs

One was a new switch (used a halfords sourced lever switch) and the tiny thermostats can go (resulting in the fan just blowing cool air)

Both easy fixes - but we try not to use it too much tbh, in part, coz were lentil eating, hessian shoe wearing "save the whale" w4nkers and partly coz I am tighter than a nats ****

And tell the wife to hang it all up in the utility room

I chuckled out loud at that.

We hammer ours simply in the colder months as we haven't a room inside suitable for drying other than in a tumble. Brilliant invention

Yes it is brilliant tbh honest and the great thing about the condenser is you keep a lot of the heat

We do hammer the washing machine (5 kids), and I still hammer the wife
