All of you with WRX's commenting that it's easy, the wide tracks have plastic trim and virtually no lip so there's nothing to roll, pulling the arches is the only option I'd say and then you risk cracking the paint and pulling out the plastic trim.
That said I ran 18x8.5 rota force drifts with 225/40 tyres with a stretch and no rubbing or problems at all but then you don't get the great concave look you get with the 9" wide rim, and that's ultimately why I binned them. You could probably run 235/40 on those rims
I reckon

You need to modify rear arch lip on widetrack STI onward, without this you will run to issues with rubbing
Second option if car is only for look, then I would suggest to run aggressive camber and toe and then you shouldn't have any issue with very wide wheels,as many people over in US running on stock suspension 10JX18" and 265 wide tyres
Agree on WRX those issues are not so common, but yes you can find this issue too, when you running very wide tyres and wide wheels, then I would go route of raising ride height or running more camber and toe
This thread should help

The only way to do it is pull the arches I'd imagine so it would need a good bodyshop to do it, or as you suggest - for looks just run silly camber and toe (I refer to such people as "stance *******" ).

Bit of a thread Resurrection, but wanted to give my goings on with a near identical wheel/tyre & car...
I've got the Rota Force Drift in 9j and immediately destroyed the rear tyres on stardard shocks, with Tein lowering springs (35/40mm)...so got Tein Super Sprint coilovers cranked upto the hardest setting (as test) and still chewed the tyre (225/40/18) so ground away the small lip that was on the arch and treat/sprayed it.... STILL caught on hard cornering, so rather than get more practical wheels, I had -2.5 degree camber dialled in and now they're fine, zero rubbing...even on the track!!

I ended up raising the suspension a bit but have never been happy with how the car looked since.. Ill get it booked in for another fast road setup and get them to dial in 2.5 degree neg camber like yours....
Does the car handle ok with the 225 40 tyres? Mine are 235 40

Now that looks bad ***! Do you think ill be alright with my 235 40 tyres and 2.5 neg camber to stop the rubbing? Ill try get the garage to roll the rear arches slightly too but I know the hawkeye has only a small lip that can be taken away
