Default 18x9 et35 on hawkeye STi shredding tyres

Hello guys recently purchased some rota force drift 18x9 et35 with 235 40 tyres to go on my widetrack hawkeye sti


fitted them with bc coilovers and dropped the ride height nothing crazy just a decent drop, mechanic added 1.4 degrees neg camber to the rear wheels, said that was pretty much max unless I wanted ridiculous inner tyre wear.


My problem is the rear arches are really catching on the top part of the side wall and have already made a grove in the tyres, it happens more on the passenger side for some reason.


I've hardened up the coil overs and this has helped a bit, but still get the problem when I got over dips in the road, or a drain etc.


Been in contact with arch enemy but i'm not sure how much he can do as there is only a tiny lip on the arches on the widetrack STi's


Help please! I've seen other members run these wheels.

take off the stance **** wheels and fit some proper ones that fit..............

Ignore pointless comments for starters.

2nd - yo may need to get the arches pulled if you want to keep these Arch Enemy has a very good rep' maybe ask them what they can do once they see it, but you may have to sell them and get the ET48 version (18x8.5)

What colour did you go for ?

I'm thinking of these for my Hatch STi.

Did they set the toe on the rear?

I'm running -2.0 deg negative on the rear on my 18x8.75 ET35 with 225 tyres and haven't noticed any bad wear issues.

To be honest when you lower an Impreza the rears automatically increase negative camber. Mine was around your settings with a 30-35mm drop before I played with the camber settings!

Audi man, they are gun metal grey, look stunning. Not sure if they did the toe, they set it up for fast road set up so assumed they will have. Do you notice aggressive inside tyre wear with -2.0 neg camber?

Really hoping I can come to some sort of conclusion with this as they look amazing on, the car is a real head turner now!

I got told by 1 tyre garage that they couldn't adjust the rear toe on an impreza. It's quite easy though and even Quick-**** managed it with my guidance.

Just ask the company that set the car up for a full geo printout. That should show camber, toe, caster etc.

Don't get noticable wear on mine with -2.0 deg on the rears.

I bought the arch rolling tool and rolled my own arches + some other fat-thomas blokes arches!

do you have a widetrack rear STi too? There is only a tiny lip on the widetracks. Did your scrub before you did the roll?

Nope. Mine is a WRseX. Which I believe are exactly the same as the STI! hehe. Just kidding.

The STI widetrack has the rear arches cut away behind the widetrack arch extensions so does not always need an arch roll. I rolled and slightly pulled mine to suit the wheels, nothing major or noticable to the eye. Certainly worth doing.

Just got the car in the garage for a slight raise in the ride height and -2 degree neg camber dialled in. Hopefully that will solve the problem!

Wheels still rub on the rears, even with -2 degree neg camber, only option now is an arch roll or a set off 225 tyres instead of the 235's on there now. Can someone please confirm the arches on the rear of the widetrack sti can be rolled, looks like there's just a tiny lip there but that could make all the difference

Talk to Arch Enemy - they may have rolled some of these before and will be able to tell you what can be achieved.

Shall get some pics up soon when I'm off exercise with the army and at my computer!
Car is pretty low prob around a 40mm drop. Have had to raise the rear a little bit so it looks like a slight 'rake' setup now. Really want it slammed back down at the rear so it looks like a decked Tarmac stage rally beast!

Going by that "TARMAC STAGE RALLY BEAST" that's your problem....

They a few people running 9 and 9.5 wheels with no problems...

I will be running set of 9J

It's not that low at the moment though, be nice to have in the future but obviously not if its going to cause issues. Be good if some of the guys who run 9" and 9.5" rims to contribute to the thread for advice

Hi there

As I told you before you will need to have arch rolled,which is problem on the widetrack or later models,but can be easy sorted too

Other option as I told you is raise bit ride height at back/rear,this we are done on the wagon,you don't need to raise a lot,but just 1" maybe bit more,you need to find perfect balance,this shouldn't require new geo

That's not that low mate. I have a narrow track car running the same spec wheels with no rubbing. I have the arches rolled to almost flat but no camber dialled in. I'm using 225/40 tyres though. It's not a massive difference but seems to be enough to matter. However, I'm looking to use a 245/35 next

As advised, get the rear arch looked at and go from there

£200 is bit too much,we are paid £150 last time and they done pretty good job.

Not sure how much cost used arch roller,but I've seen one used for £100 few months ago

You can buy a new arch roller for around £120 but I think he's after somebody to do it for him. Try and find a decent body shop as a lot of them carry them and can repair the paintwork if they damage it

Your right kev, I would rather someone else do it, especuially seeing as there is only a slight lip on the rear arches that may not roll very easily

Give it a go yourself. It's not too difficult but you must be careful and use a heat gun and soft mallet at the same time to gently fold the edges in where required. Heat heat heat and take your time and there will be minimul pain cracks to touch up on the inside only.

I've done 2 cars now after buying my tool.

Indigo GT carry out arch rolling, give then a call 01495 719720 they are in Tredegar so not to far away for you..

i have the same spec wheels and tyres although mine is a hawk wrx so narrow track.
i had archenemy roll the arches and they clear just fine with room left to go a bit wider.
they charged £120 and took about 2 hours all in.
give them a try.
