Whats a good winter tyre guys?
+1 on the Yokohama w drives as Legacy has mentioned for a good allround winter tyre, although i currently run uniroyal rainsport 3 and cant fault them.
For best grip in snow etc - Bridgestone blizzaks LM25, although a bit ott for the odd day we may get a 1/2" of snow!

Bare in mind that winter tyres are more about temperature than snow/ice/rain. They are designed to work best under 6c. So there is no point in fitting them until you regularly drive in low temps - they will be worse than summers.
Consult a thermometer, not a calendar.
Thanks, I am.
Most of my driving is early morning or late at night so already seeing below 7 more often than not where we are. Marginal difference up to about 12 degrees too and better in rain too, so quite happy it's nearly time 👍

A tyre test done in warm conditions proved the winter tyres to be only around 10% worse than the summer tyres, thats pretty good, the comparison was 50% worse when the summer tyres were subjected to cooler conditions, especially ice and snow where winter tyres just dominate over summer tyres (point proved a few years back in Northern Central Scotland v a 4x4 with summer tyres and a fwd with winter tyres which left it, even when hitting a patch of black ice it was only a slight twitch for the fwd and brown stains for the 4x4
).
