Blobeye WRX & STi differences in experience and drive

Well the only reason in my mind to buy a WRX is price and/or because you want a Wagon.
I bought mine just as a stop gap after selling my E60 535D and clearing the finance etc. before we got married. Now we're buying a house, so the Wagon stays.
However, the car is so damn practical and handy, I'm reluctant to sell it anyway. It's about to get a set of Brembos fitted and it's in need of new shocks so once that's done I'd be a bit daft to sell anytime soon.
The step up from a sub £3k WRX Wagon to a nice STI (I wouldn't consider a non widetrack if I was going back to an STI) is such that it would actually still be cheaper to stick an STI engine and drivetrain in my car than buy a widetrack STi. Because I love having a wagon, I may well go down this route.
BUT! If you do not want/care about having a wagon then you'd be daft to buy a WRX if you can afford an STi. They are so much more than harder suspension and a bit more power. I miss mine a lot. The distribution of torque is more rear biased also in the STI. They do handle differently to a WRX as a result of that and other bits.

I'd also add yearly milage to the comments above, if your doing a lot of miles the extra comfort and economy of the WRX is definitely a bonus, also depends how hard your going to drive it as IMO if you've not got the ability or will to push an STI to it's limits then there really is no point in forking out the extra£3/5k for one, as you will have all the dis-advantages without being able to exploit the advantages, it's a bit like buying a trike instead of a motorbike, why would you put up with getting cold and wet sitting in traffic on a trike with a helmet on when you could be in a car.
