Cheers mate, was hoping to do it without more power but that next 0.6 is going to be tough to shave off, let's see what 50kg removed does firstly.

It'd be interesting to run at the pod next summer with far better tyres and no boot spoiler.

I thought the Suntek Sport tyres would have been better for the strip as they don't grip but now my torque is up 50lbs I've been proved badly wrong.

My times are massively affected by a good launch so I think I'm going to go for the Vreddies.

Matt, a couple of things! Just some helpful pointers

1) your launch needs some serious work, what was your 60ft time? You held the revs at what, 5k there? Really you want to be blipping the throttle, holding the revs wont give as good an launch. By blipping the throttle at say 6-4-6k etc you are getting the turbo spinning up so just as the lights go green slip the clutch at your desired rpm and plant your foot.

2) Dont race the lights. If your not at the right revs or what not for a launch, then wait until you are ready, the car next to you is irrelevant, so race the clock not the guy next to you.

3) I dont know your logic on your tyre choice there, more grip is king in every situation.

4) I wish I had a track like that to race on

60 foot time was 1.88, tyres were also muddy and spun. Tbh I want to beat my "opponent" (Tommy, Busta and Xline will like that term) but half the time I was set and they were struggling to stage (like I did on my 12.6) and the next time I just didn't want to raise revs too high as the sun was directly behind the starting lights making them all look illuminated and basically I had to wait for the car next to me to launch at times. I ended up doing a false start due to guessing the lights! I'm really going to have to do a better strip!!! There was times yesterday when I was sat at the lights for ages. The technique I use is pretty hard on the car if I sit there for 30 seconds holding 5k, I tend to ease off then it's "****e I gotta go!!!".

This early run for instance, got to the line hit 5k then delay waiting for Classic to stage, then marshals wanting to put numbers on and have a quick joke, you just lose the will to hold the revs as you never know how long the lights are going to be in stage etc and end up losing focus, half the time I'm looking around and not at the lights lol..

I'll try a run blipping next time but I'm scared if the lights turn when It's at 4k and not 6k I'll bog down like buggery. TBH The car is pushing 4 second 0-60 times when I manage to go at 5k so it's just grip I need to sort really.

The tyres came with my Rota Gra Revolution 24/7 package, I was going to upgrade on purchase but always read that sticky tyres give too much rolling resistance for straight-line speed - how wrong was I! Everything is a learning curve at times.

This is why you ignore the lights mate

Blip the throttle, get the turbo spinning and when YOU are ready set off, dont race the lights it makes you rush your launch and quite often you arent ready, you can see in my videos I take no notice of the car next to me, I launch when I am set up and ready.

Your time doesnt start when the lights go green, the time starts when you move, so you arent going to loose anything by been a bit more patient and getting the perfect launch

If you want your 11s you are going to need to need to forget about everyone else and just concentrate on your times.

Like I say mate, not been horrible or picky etc, just offering some helpful hints so you get the best out of your runs and give your self the best chance of getting that 11!

No mate it's good advice, when I was on the line for the 12.6 I thought what would mickywrx do? I certainly didn't go at 4k that time lol.

I set off when the lights go amber! Yeah I know about the timing aspects but I once raced alone on the strip and recorded a 22.09 pass! I need a car to race to give me motivation. But like I say I'll take your tips on board next time I line up alone, man up and go at 6k when it feels right.

J do you feel self-conscious when you don't go at green with another car already gone?

Yup, do it when you are good and ready, there is no rush, you are aiming for times for your own benefit its irrelevant what other people are there to do

Self conscious? No not at all mate, Im not interested in racing anyone else, I am only there to get the best time I can possibly get and Im not going to be able to do that by racing the lights or the car next to me.

I pull up to the staging lights, give my gauges a check and make sure all my parameters are in order before I even think about giving it some gas. Get comfortable, check all my stuff again.

THEN I will set my launch, picking the moment I want to side step the clutch and go for it. I have been sat on the line before and the other car has finished its run before I have even moved.

To be honest I have nothing to prove, I know how fast my car is, if the guy next to me thinks he "beat me" then good on him, because I know in the cold light of day that he only "beat me" across the line because I let him... My time will still be faster

I had guys come up to me all day on saturday crowing about how they beat me, and in reality they didnt. I still mullered the RS4 in the video evena fter giving him a head start....

50kg reduction should save 0.1
Anything you save in the 0-60ft time will be doubled by the end of the run.

True.

It's all hypothetical but tyres, weight save, better track/day, JGlanzaV-pastiche launch then possibly 12.2

Thinking I can't budget more than a 50KG loss It's ominously looking like forged WRX or STI bottom and 1.5bar. 350 with 330 torque should keep me reasonably safe and without doubt threaten 11's.

Looks like a 5 year plan again.

Just googled it, and no, never done it.

1) I have broken a 6 speed without power shifting

2) It wont really give much if any benefit to the turbo unless mapped to suit A'la anti lag style. (My alcatek will do flat foot shifting, and it will keep boost bewteen gears) I will enable it if i get close but cant get a 10 just to see if it helps.

3) I doubt your car will like it very much.

I'm not 100% sure what it means even after watching tutorials but a few people have told me to double clutch to improve times.

Not sure if they are just quoting "that film" in jest.

I live my life a quarter mile at a time. Nothing else matters: not the mortgage, not the store, not the SN lads and all their bull****. For those twelve seconds or less, I'm free.

i guess you are having issues with weight reduction vs trying to convince yourself and others you have an sti and
