Apart from Chloe and Wilma, other names are commonly used for cats, to be fair. 3-letter names are very popular for domenstic cats, aren't they. Bob is ok, but imagine if you called your cat Rob and your mum called him Robert whenever she was angry with him. Our neibour cat is called Sid. When I shoo him out of my garden, I always say to him- 'Go away, Sidney!" He does f**k off, tbh.

We have Julie for a female alsation and James for a male alsation, back in my India family. It's even repeated for every damn dog they get, after one dies. Either their imagination is dire or they're just extremely fond of the 'Julie' and 'James' names. Even their nasty, needle teeth pomeranian was named James after one of their alsation James died!

 

I always call anyone Bob if I cant remember their name , so when our cat turned up and his name was Bob already, I was happy

 

Well recently I met a cat with no name at all. He was in my friend's house. Jet black with green, penetrating eyes. A typical Western cat. He was calmly sleeping in my friend's dining chair. My friend told me that it's his 70 yo dad who's responsible to lure that orphan cat in. The dad is on the onset of his illness. He forgets a lot, has become quite jolly and he's doing some strange things that he had never done before. He's talking to his dead parents by himself and has developed compassion for cats. According to my mate, his dad never had a cat before in his life, as he was never keen on them.

I felt sorry for the cat for having no name. But the cat was so much in peace with himself, as always, that I don't think he takes an offence of the fact that although he has acquired himself a slave, he remains unnamed. His name is 'cat' and he seems to be happy with it. I don't think he addresses his owner as some Arthur or John etc. either. Everyone is a 'Meow' to a cat.

 

Cat names can be quite amusing, my wife had two cats when I first met her. When she got them she couldn't think of names for them so the got called by their collar colour. They were know simply as Red and Blue and the names stuck!!

I have 5 cats, Jazzie (long haired diluted tortoiseshell), Linkie (short for Skinny Melinky) Sox (black with white feet), Shadow (all black) and Turbo (my grey tabby)

I've also had Taz, Dizzy, Jakey and Tiz all sadly missed

I've always recognised Shadow as a great name for a cat! Makes sense. All your cats seem to have relational (to themselves) names. Very good.

 

Average male Staffy weighs 33lbs, my cat weighs 32lbs now and still has two years growing to do!

Mister Matt, this video is much better than the previous one with unnecessary chair swivelling X 50 frikking times! Ludo and co. are looking good and the background music is also very nice. Give Ludo and co. a cuggle each from me.

 

Not a cat lover myself but we got our daughter a kitten today to try an ease the pain of our Chihuahua passing last week......The kitten is a beige colour with blue eyes, never seen one this colour before.

 

Stunning looking kitten, Jayallen. Hope your daughter finds a new friend in this little one.

 

The blue eyes change after a few weeks on most breeds, which is a shame.

 

We phoned the Council noise pollution team last night at 1.30am due to the idiot over the road playing music at full volume, they came out and when they came in our living room, they were like "wow, that's not a cat it's a mountain Lion."

It'll be interesting to see if he can reach 3 stone.

 

Well I'm sure you know much more about the cats than I ever will, but hope Mister Ludo gets bigger (if he does) as per his own in-built characteristic; without you feeding him any extra foods. I've seen some seriously fat cats in my life time because their human parents fed them too much; in order to make them look and feel more cuddle some. Those cats became very ill, their quality and length of life was affected and they became nothing but a mass of lard, spread about in the house with their heavy purring and irregular breathing. I'm sure they died of either cardiac or liver issues.

On animal diet, I also heard recently that a vegetarian couple fed their two dogs vegetarian food. Their dogs suffered a number of health issues during their life time, looked weak as, and died early. Now someone might say that pets can live perfectly healthily on Hare Krishna vegetarian diet, but those two didn't. I just think that people shouldn't interfere with the nature so much.

 

He's always had a bit of "puppy" fat on him but recently he's started slimming out whilst still putting on weight

He's getting taller and longer by the day. The record Maine Coon 10 years back, Leo, weighed 35lbs and was certified healthy by vets! I've heard of a 49lbs Maine Coon but it was badly obese.

I still think Ludo's dad is bigger!

Yes, Ludo is massive alright but your friend didn't need to hide her face with Ludo so deliberately. For a minute I thought that it was Ludo standing there with black leggings and trainers on.

It doesn't matter, does it. The kitten will be the cutest thing as a cat with hazel eyes. It's their attitude to life that counts, not the colour of their eyes. There's a Google image which I don't know how to publish here via my iPad. It says something like the following, with a kitten in the background:

"I decide to live in the moment today, but when it gets a bit much, I shall just take a nap."

 

I know before he got the Guinness World Record you all though I was exaggerating as per usual but bloody hell, he won't stop growing. I can't believe our 4½ son isn't scared of him!

He's certainly not the most unique pet I've ever owned, I used to have Sharks in my cellar!

 

I didn't know you could have sharks for pet. I thought it was only this Scoobynet that homed sharks. A term called 'sharking' was very popular here; once upon a time. I think it died down as there's nothing to shark here any more.

 

Paroon Sharks aka Dog Eating Catfish. I saw a 5 foot long one at Disney's Animal Kingdom and just had to have one!

I think you like to home unusual animals, don't you? I've seen some peeps on telly who own lamas in the UK.

 

I think it's more wild looking animals. I love the idea of owning a Wolf Hybrid or Eurasion Lynx.

I only got into Maine Coons because I was adamant Mrs Norris off Harry Potter must be a Wildcat and I wanted one. I liked the idea of owning a cat that would scare the hell out of visitors and people were always asking to go down the cellar and see my Sharks.

I was gutted I had to sell them but a 1000+ litres of uncovered water with 2000w of heating started causing serious damp. I tried to combat it with a dehumidifier but with the pond filter and lighting it was costing a fortune in electricity and it all melted the fuse box at one stage.

I'm not sure if I'd get into the hobby again but the local Aquatics sometimes stock Gator Gar and Black Piranha.

I have had actual sharks in my living room, I'm not sure if the missus has any pics still or not.

Two cat sharks and a stingray. Not exactly unusual sold them on when they outgrew the tank. Currently my inhabitants are some shrimp, urchins, corals, harlequin shrimps, starfish etc.

Plus the bull mastiff and I believe we may have a pygmy hedgehog on the way too.

 

No, just fairly large catfish native to the Mekong and Chao Phraya rivers. They earn their names Paroon Shark and dog eating Catfish (amongst many other names) because they resemble Sharks and have been know to eat dog carcasses. They have teeth but they are more like sandpaper than shark teeth. They get big if you can provide the space and they are hungry little *******s


I fed mine Hikari Massivore pellets which weren't cheap. There's a guy on youtube with a 4 foot Paroon who spends about £50 a week on pellets.


I've seen the Bamboo Shark for sale but tbh, they look less like the archetypal Shark than the Paroon does!

I flirted with the idea of putting a Sturgeon in the pool as they are quite shark like and don't require heating, not sure if they need brackish requirements as they grow though

You not have any problems with the shrimps eating the starfish?..every one I put it was just a tasty treat
I put a tiny and I mean tiny cowfish in one year and it nuked over a grands worth of fish
