I see, they even gave up on checking your signature years before chip and pin came in. Think it was a good 6 months of me paying with no signature on my card, before someone called me on it, after got new card.

watched a program where they showed how scammers fitted a device into a card machine, the shop who had the card machine never new, the fraudster would just enter the shop and down loads card details and pin number by Bluetooth, then walk away. How they got the dodgy card machines into the shop i cant remember

Jay - the muppets summary is wrong, but its too exhausting trying to explain it to him further. We had the sae problem when we tried to explain the merits of the twinscroll engine JDM to him - check his previous posts, he has a severe inability to comprehend anything outside of his own thoughts an generally trolls any comments to to contrary of them.

It is true, the card scams have been on the go for years, also many of the dodgy local shops, especially in my neck of the woods will have skimmers, restraunts where famous for that years ago. I always have to check there hasnt been a reader put on the cash points round here, I've caught one before, was well chuffed with myself

In short, as I reckon you can understand this, the scam regarding card details has indeed been on the go for years, yet the average joe/bedroom seller, could not get a merchant card device easily to make payments over the phone, and nor could they set up an illegal bank account with no trace to them. Now with this new PayPal, there are ears lightening up in scam world because now anyone can get one, using stealth tactics (stealth is another concept worth looking up.) , so thus, the point of my comments on this thread, there is a whole new level of scamming going to be opening up because of this device.

I imagine over the forth coming months we will see reports of it, and PayPal will start putting in policies and levels of protection, but alas, it'll just be another hurdle, the scammers will always overcome anything.

So the motto of the whole thread - don't pay by card over the phone to an ebay seller (unless a well established real retail company) and don't trust the people who apparently work on these cards and their security as they are one step behind knowledgeable folk

I am done. Its been, emotional.

No baby, we have already established you cantcomprehend much, so words are wasted, and the English language is too precious to waste.

However I did find the film you made about yourself online.

So ladies and gentleman, I give you Xline.

Hahah you're back even after saying i would be making the last post on the matter. Sociopathic? Obsessed? in love (with me)? stalker?

All of the above?

The truth is, I realised, picking my nose was actually more important than debating any further.

But, I WILL let you have the last post of the matter, because it evidently means SO much to you. What are you going to do with your evening now? You will be lost without me.

Nanite sweetheart xx

Entertaining to say the least.

I've looked over this thread - speed read it so apologies if I mention things already said.
  • 'The reader doesn't store details' - fine, as long as it is a kosher reader, and not a data extraction/storage unit cunningly made to look like one.
    (Remember the fake ATMs?).
  • Paypal has a history of getting hacked.
  • Paypal has a longer history and bigger record for being a scammers' paradise.
  • An advantage of a standard card reader issued by a verified financial institution is that the operator will also have been verified and found to be solid enough.
  • If you're using a phone and app, why not simply use the Internet to do the job?
