why does it make it easier to clone a car - I don't understand

cloning a car is pretty easy any way,

I see a silver Audi A4, same model as mine and I copy the plates - it has been that simple for ages

 

I guess where he's going is you dont now have to create a fake tax disc.

ANPR will just see the plate and look up to see it is taxed

no biggy really

 

theres no visial ref to say its not taxed now, be it the wrong tax disc etc

 

sure I get that

but as I said in an earlier post I wonder how many people were (in the last few years) caught by the Mk1 eyeball - i.e. actually looking at the tax disk

the police would do a number plate lookup and parking wardens could not give a ****

my point is the people cloning cars before 1st of October are more than likely the same people who are going to do it now

and the simple fact is, computerising the system (MOT's Insurance and VED) simply makes sense and is harder to abuse,

you will always get the serial abusers - and they are by definition harder to catch

but the try it on "tax is in the post brigade" of old, the "casual abuser" in other words, are now dead and buried

 

And here i was thinking I was the only idiot that could lose the bolts🙈🙈🙈

 

Not sure what the big deal is, I've always found the tax disc looks wrong on any of my cars or bikes & haven't displayed one for several years. I've never had any fine or issue over it & even the police didn't care when I got pulled as they could tell it was taxed from the registration number.

 

Like I said a in a previous post, I have not displayed a Tax disk in my Caterham 7 for at least 5 years

The "failure to display" has been a nonsense for years

This initiative just recognises this simple fact

 

I think it is a mistake to bin them.

You must have the most thoughtful police ever by you as the offence wasn't just not having paid the road tax, the other offence and one you were committing was 'failing to display'.

If you got away with it then fair enough.

 

how many people do you think have been prosecuted for "failure to display" in the last 3/4 years

and I mean prosecuted solely for that offence - not counting scenarios where the police lump it in with a load of other offences, to keep the stats up

but an otherwise law abiding person who's car is taxed mot'd and insured, parked correctly etc etc - but they have not been displaying a Tax Disk

I reckon it would be virtually zero

I was done when the tax disc was stolen off my motorbike about 5-6 years ago.

Even though I had proof it was taxed the police did me for failing to display.

 

sure I had my Tax disk stolen a couple of times from my caterham7 (which is why did not bothered to display for years)

what were you doing to attract the police attention - was the bike stationary

 

I was fuelling it up at the local garage. They were already there when I pulled in.

Why should you assume that I had 'attracted their attention'?
