End of the tax disc
I think it comes into effect from the 11th of October? Either way you will not receive a tax disc for your car anymore. Always annoyed me if I was waiting for DVLA to deliver the disc and possibly have some council jobsworth stick a ticket on me for failing to display a ticket even though my vehicle was taxed.

1st October I believe.

Brill. My tax expires in October.
Anyone want my soon-to-be-defunct Richbrook ally tax disc holder (with 'STi' subtly etched on the twist-off retaining cover)? https://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTIzMVgxN...H2g~~60_35.JPG :lol1: |
So hang on, iv just bought six months, what happens in October
|
You'll no doubt have to still display it.
Then, when you renew next time, you'll be 'in the system' and be able to enjoy a discless windscreen lol |

You can just remove it. The road fund is still paid, you just no longer need to display the disc.

Cool. Yeah they do look tidy.
I'll set a reminder on my phone to PM you at the time, so as to get your postal address. :) (BTW, you don't need the 6 Allen bolts in that kit, as mine is the much-easier-to-use twist-off affair (with the 5 'dummy' Allen bolts in the cover :thumb:). TIP: Ensure you first clean the area of windscreen with alcohol wipes, or meths or whatever. :thumb: |

Granted they are not exactly shouting about it..... maybe they need to add it to the terrorist threat ;) |

So come the 1st I can just remove the disk from all my vehicles and some jobsworth can't ticket me ? As I was sure it was later :) I'm taking mine off on the 1st just in the hope it will start the neighbours off :D |

Can't say I've seen any tv advertising or even in newspapers ( although I don't often read a newspaper).

From October, you can also pay it monthly with a 10% interest.
|
itll make it easier for dodgy people to "plate" cars, just get a set of reg plates made up for there untaxed, uninsured car and everytime they go through ANPR it wont flash up

It would do exactly the same now although the tax disk won't be legal but I doubt people who do this will care. |

Instead, you have to get a road tax refund on any tax remaining on the vehicle, while the buyer will have to pay to re-tax the car, BUT (and here's the government's clever bit) you can only get a tax refund on any whole months remaining whilst the buyer can only tax the vehicle from the start of the current month. i.e. if you sell a vehicle on 15th October and it's taxed to 31 December you get November and December's tax back, but not Octobers' whereas the buyer has to pay for October thereby meaning the government get an extra month's tax.... apparently this will net them a nice £65 million a year. As with any UK government of recent times no change like this is ever made without it costing us the public more money and adding to their tax revenues that they then waste. W4nkers the lot of them! |
Hey, but that'll go into fixing up the roads

And don't forget the nice little change that from October any remaining road tax will not transfer to the new owner with a vehicle when you sell it.
