My old blob eye sti had only 3800 miles on her when I traded it in for the hawkeye I've got a transit connect sport van with 8000 miles on her from new I'm looking to buy a new defender so I guess that isn't going to get a lot of miles put on it

Good stuff. Do they do a Petrol Defender? - probably a safer bet for you than a Diesel (modern Diesels aren't good on short journeys - DPF filters etc.)

Not a mindreader so don't know what you class as "negative comments".

Imo a lot of what could be taken as cynicism is basically questions that anyone should ask of a car (and ad such as this).

We now learn that it hasn't done 268 miles in 7 years. It's actually done just 20 miles in the last 6 or so.

"12 September 2008, 22:33 my 07 sti ppp hawkeye weekend car has 248 miles on the clock" ).

And I'd point out what I've said - it's an ad that produces more questions than answers.

But here's a key question - is there a warranty with it?
After all, it's effectively a new car isn't it?

And all that aside, on a much brighter note, the explanation is there.
And this thread is here for us ALL to take something on board.

Come on, they were not questions it was SN being its usual negative way and going worse case with not actually knowing.

What questions, it tells all a serious buyer would need to now in order to pick up the phone and ask.

is this even worth a serious response ......no.

Lets not complicate things, if you're a serious buyer then you will pick up the phone, as far as SN goes then its interesting as to what state the car is in and how not using it has affected the car. It would appear that it may actually be fine going off what the seller has said but same again, if you're a genuine buyer the answers to the question are a phone call away.

Back in 2003 I was working for TWR and we had a jaguar xj220 come to us that had been hidden in a carpet factory for a years. It needed all sorts to make it ready for sale including tyres, full engine out cam belt all fluids ect. Goes to show not using a car is not a good thing.

Here is the link to the story.

As long at all the servicing has been carried out on a time basis rather than milage I don't see a problem with it.

Depends how you view SN.
Imo, a true test of fire. If something comes through it then you can be sure it's the business.

And I'm sure any seller wants to be answering the same questions over and over again, possibly even spending hours on endless phone calls.

Btw I didn't need to pick up the phone and ask did I, or anyone else as it happens?

Well you got one, despite yours not being taken too seriously

Oh, and the comments/answers provided by the seller have convinced at least one person that it's worth the investment.
Hopefully they'll do the same for someone in the market.

Every cloud has a silver lining as they say.
And as I've said, if it passes through the 'doom and gloom' on here it's worthy.

Probably had a nice bit of free advertising as well, and why not?

Genuinely, GLWTS.

Well thats a much older car and not built to the standard of a production car.

But less of that, did you get to drive it? There still to this day one of the fastest accelerating cars.

Basic build as a precaution with forged pistons, acl bearings, arp head stud kit, uprated gaskets, is around £2700 inc vat
Add extra for oil pump, rods ,clutch ect.

But if the engine has failed could cost more as there may be damaged parts to replace or extra work involved.
