Had a little drive out last night to have a bit of fun and find some V Power and ended up running into a great bunch of car guys. Came across an S2000 and an E46 M3, guy in the M3 wanted a little play, so showed him what's what . Then he signaled for me to follow them, so I did, ended up meeting up with a couple of their other mates.
Turns out the S2000 was supercharged with 420bhp, one of them also had a DC5 Integra and another with a 944 S2 that had just had a turbo engine fitted with a hybrid turbo that they were out mapping. Ended up having a good long chat for an hour looking at each others cars!

A 6 speed would be good for piece of mind but the old 5 speed is just fine (touch wood, don't want to tempt fate). I like the ratio's on the 5 speed too vs the Subaru 6 speed (I know yours has better ratio's). I might fit some of those reinforcement plates to beef it up a bit at some point. It's got ~340 lbs ft running through it as it is.

Is that a drawbar lol

Yeah I don't launch it, don't ever really need to. I've done a few semi launches I suppose you could say. I do use it properly once rolling though.

Decided against fitting the coilovers now. I think I like it with the prodrive set up to be honest so I'm going to sell the Eibachs and get some brakes instead .

Sold the Eibachs. On the look out for some brakes now. Although I've been tempted by a 20G....
Got some spannering to do in the next couple of weeks on it, the drivers front inner cv has shat its grease out all over the place. I think i'll just replace the shaft rather than **** about trying to replace the boot.

I'd think long and hard before putting a bigger turbo on your car. You will kill it below 4k, that amazing shove you get just now at 3000? Will be pushed further away. But obvs more hp so will make a better drag car, not a better road car IMO.

CV boot is easy enough replaced mate, iirc you have to take the outer joint off and leave the inner one on. Just make sure you have gloves!

Easier to replace the shaft though . Hub nut, bottom ball joint, roll pin at the gearbox end and its out. Less messy too. J&R do new shafts for £60.

I think i'll just pop the ball joint out. Only takes 5 mins, mine has steel arms so you can do the old smash it with a hammer to break the taper trick. Will need to get a new split pin though, no idea what size it'll be.

Got the shaft fitted earlier. There is no way in hell you can get it out without pulling the bottom ball joint out of the lower arm. Might be possible on the saloon with it's slightly wider track but not on a wagon.
All went in ok, one slight issue is that I couldn't get the roll pin holes lined up. I could get one side in line then the other was just off so the pin wouldn't go all the way through. The roll pin is stuffed in there and isn't going anywhere though. I might have another look at it at some point and see if there is some way of lining them up correctly but it's not exactly going to fall off so not too bothered.

You sure it's not 180* out if the roll pin is not lining up?

Well I was prying the old shaft with a big pry bar and there was no way it was coming all the way off of the stub, just bent the flange on the shaft. Yeah having had a quick read I think it's 180 out. I need to do the rear brake pads next weekend so I'll knock the pin out and spin it round before the split pin becomes one with the ball joint like the old one had lol.
