I normally agree with your posts, but the fact the black car did not crash has nothing to do with preparation or skill... it was complete luck. Not having a go as there but for the grace of God go all of us, but I don't think it's a video to be lauded or even laughed at.... it could have been very serious if Lady Luck hadn't been smiling on all involved.
All concerned did well to avoid damage, but luck played a big part in their success.
You know the saying though, I'd rather be lucky than good!

And you say i'm making assumptions.
Why so defensive about your driving and abusive towards someone offering good advice, you really should look at a bit of anger management after you get your eyes seen to that is.

My post contained no reference to anything you posted TT. It was in agreement with F1's general remark that all were lucky "it could have been very serious if Lady Luck hadn't been smiling on all involved."
As I said "All concerned did well to avoid damage, but luck played a big part in their success"

scary stuff and a reason to have track insurance.

Actually I went back and watched the whole 9mins odd of your vid as I thought I was maybe being a little harsh in my comments, but nope I got it right the first time round.
I was quite amused by the bike that went round you with some very nice lines and then disappeared off into the distance.
Oh and what was the bimmer a 1.6L you should have looked at the lines he was taking and tried to follow them.
I ok enough p!ss taking.
Ok first lesson, you were trying too hard to go fast around a track that you don't know, which is why I mentioned sighting laps and why your lines were suffering along with your braking and gear changing.
Take it a section at a time, you shouldn't be trying to go quickly around the whole track but to get the first few bends right as a sequence, then slow down again and look at the best lines for the next bit, after that use the rest of the lap to familiarise yourself, you'll notice bits along the way that just work for you and you can already remember from the computer game, it's like playing join the dots, experiment and have some fun in those areas.
It's not just about the corner in front of you, there's the ones after it too, the best line or apexing a particular corner isn't always going to be the best line for the one after it especially when they are close together as you discovered, at one point and ended up braking mid corner during a direction change, do that at speed and you'll be bouncing off the armco backwards.
People think that going fast is what it's about but it's not, smooth clean lines will make you much quicker because you'll flow along not upsetting the balance of the car and end up having to brake or correct, like you were doing, then your off line and slowing down as well as being hard on the tyres and brakes.
You say you were taking it easy and it's a good thing that you did really and as you say made it back in one piece.
Is that a little less cnuty for you, Wong key dave.

no your still a **** I had 4 days over there 3 days on track first day was wet and second morning was damp I was not there to break any records I am not a driving god I was just having a spirited drive and keeping away from rumble strips ect
you keep going on about learning the course how on earth would I do that in such a short space of time its not a 2min a lap course like other tracks its a 8+mins course or 9+min course for a crap driver like me
also I have heard enough horror stories about people going off and not being able to afford to pay for the damage to the track and having their cars taken off them I didn't want to fall in to that trap
I drove what I could see at the time if that's not good enough for you fine but it was good enough for me and I had a great time

ps
all the stuff your spouting about in to quick and set up for the next corner ect ect I know all this ffs you don't have exclusive knowledge
going to a track like oulton park then yes I would drive it differently because I have been before and after a few laps I would know my lines and braking points ect the ring is a completely different track to any other in the world and I showed it the respect it deserved for my first time on it

Your a funny one you are.
I'm pleased you had a good time.
Your still having problems with your eyes, I said learn it a section at a time not all at once in one weekend, I bet you can hardly remember any of it properly now, where as if you took my approach you'd know the first 3/4mins of the track by now and be doing reasonable times over that part, then the next time you go you'd just need to refresh your memory on the bit you already know and then slowly add bits to it.
It is actually just like learning four 2 minute tracks.

do you understand how much traffic is going round the ring you cannot possibly learn that much in such a short space of time
if I took your approach to anything I would end it all with a magnum 45 under my chin
