Of course his name was leaked but some smug cop will only say "a man in his 60's has visited a police station and his flat has been searched". And by the time he has finished his 14th cup of tea the press are all over his apartment gates waiting.

Police have removed a large amount of material from a house belonging to Cliff Richard.

Fingers crossed it's just child **** and not new music.

Quite a shocking news about Cliff Richard. Regular people don't usually abstain from some sort of intimate relationships unless they're monks with a very insular state of mind. Why he was always so aloof when it came to intimate relationships always made me wonder, but then again, this doesn't mean that he had to be a monk for being tight-lipped about his personal life. Also, regular people can be non-monks and still possess the state of mind with no interest in intimate relationships.

Hope no one has been hurt. Evidence may tell.

Try closet gay with strict Christian public persona, and from an ethnic background (Anglo-Indian) where batting for the other side is still viewed with far more suspicion than it is now in the West?

And again, he hasn't been charged with anything yet, let alone convicted, so what is there to actually be shocked about? (until and unless he is)

being homosexual doesn't make you a paedophile though.

completely different unless you read scoobynet or the daily mail

The point about him being in the closet (and why) was in response to "Regular people don't usually abstain from some sort of intimate relationships unless they're monks with a very insular state of mind".

I might add also that with the alleged victim being aged 16 or thereabouts at the time of the alleged offence, the key question IMO would be more one of consent, not paedophilia.

Hm. I'm well aware of that closet gay situation for the ones with strict Christian persona and ethnic backgrounds. I never made any comparison between the liberal humanistic Western thought and strict bullshoite inhumane thought on homosexuality.

And again, he hasn't been charged with anything yet, let alone convicted, so what is there to actually be shocked about? (until and unless he is)
Feeling shocked is a reaction to even a doubt on the clean-cut Sir Richard. One is entitled and quite reasonable in feeling shocked even at the rumour of that sort. So basically, the cloud of mere doubt and further inquiry of Sir Richard's flawless character is enough for feeling shocked; even for a few moments. It's normal.

I don't think he's inquired for being gay, is he? His house is being searched for identifying a crime from past, not his gayness. Nothing shocking about him being gay or hetero or even a bi, because I don't think even Police would care what his sexuality is. It's the suspicion of crime which makes you shocked.

I'm alright, though. Not really needing any A&E or something for the shock.

on a serious note, how do they get to the point of investigating cliff?
is it on the word of a bloke who claims thirty years ago cliff fiddled with his plonker in a cupboard or does it require anything more substantial as i cant see one mans word (with the thought of compensation) is better than anothers.
also what are they removing given the crime was 30 years ago??

I thought it was a seaside tragedy when I saw the headline......
"young lad tossed off cliff".
Just goes to show, you never know what dangers are lurking in The Shadows !

Apologies, couldn't resist.
