Don't they have diff, chassis and gearbox problems, had a mate with one and he spent a small fortune on it, I test drove a new one and it did go well mind.
Mine has been the most reliable car i've owned. 4 years ownership and now at 130k it is still a fantastic car. I don't know about the auto boxes but my manual has been spot on. The autos absolutely drink petrol however the manual gets 30+mpg and better on a run. Mine is averaging at the moment 31mpg combined driving.
It does everything I need, seats 7 people or 5 plus my 2 dogs, folds flat inside for an enormous load space for transporting large loads about, i've got the 2005 model so pre tax hike bracket got all the toys on it leather/satnav/side steps/roof bars/buetooth phone etc and they can now be had for under £6k for a high miler.
Oh and for off road use i've never had any issues with mine and had no problems when we had a foot of snow a couple of years ago and I needed to drive rural roads that had been untouched by gritters and snow ploughs.
Same advice as always when looking at cars, go and try all the choices and see for yourself
