Well with some TFR to break down the grime and exhaust soot, and a damn good polish with Autoglym metal polish, some patience and a lot of elbow grease it has come up literally like new. As you can see the silencer body has come up like a mirror and the tail pipe sections are gleaming, the two part centre section has been professionally heat wrapped and again is like new. To say I am pleased is an understatement as I paid a very good price (for me that is) for the system, the quality of the system is very good and far better than I was expecting to be honest. I was on the lookout for a Prodrive rear silencer but now I think I will stick with what I have.
Nice work Ty, thats a hell of a difference from when i picked it up.

Also, the polish effect you have on the back bix, is that purely by hand using the autoglym

Well the system was cleaned off using diluted TFR to take care of the soot on the tail pipes and the road crud on the rest, then washed off and then the repeatedly cleaned and polished using the Autoglym metal polish I bought at Rallyday.

Not a two minute job but the results were certainly worth the time and trouble.

Well my front and rear bumpers both need repainting during the winter months, to get it looking it's best, plus a full detailing on the bodywork as the previous owners weren't exactly keen on keeping the paintwork looking it's best.

Thanks Glenn, certainly on the Hatchback STi I'd definitely recommend uprating the rear anti roll bar and fitting the braces.

I haven't always been a fan of the Hatchback but they've grown on me, they're a great car and I'm really enjoying mine.

Yes she's having a fully forged with a CDB conversion as well over the winter months.

Glad you're enjoying her!

Best car Subaru ever made. Very quick even in base spec and practical to boot. Also surprisingly refined, too.

With a forged build, all the car you'll ever need. Looking forward to seeing more posts Ty

Thanks Rich, I think they are a great mix of performance, practicality, when needed in I mode they can be subdued and you can just plod along but move the SI mode over to sport sharp and it's a different story.

Things will be going quiet in a little while due to the car coming off the road at the end of October, the engine will then be removed and sent away for it's forged build.

No.

But I did buy this one for the very task of modifying it, just improving upon what Subaru gave the car think of it as a Spec TA car.

I've had a look at the Carrera pics on your website and I have to fight temptation not to come up for a drive, I've always wanted a 911 and not being greedy a Carrera 2 would fit the bill nicely.

Now stop tempting me until the Hatchback STi is finished.

A Beetle??? How very dare you
It's a cracking car that drives really well and they are surprisingly not that expensive to run as long as you don't use Porsche directly. I use a local Porsche specialist and have just had her fully serviced, pads all round as they were getting low, a new lower arm (not broken just creaky), some bushes and it all came in at £750.
When you consider the oil alone is over £100 that's pretty good value I'd say! I would obviously have been happier with a zero spend but they are no more expensive to run than a Subaru and are good value for money as long as you get a good one to start with
Come to think of it Ty, I think you need to drive it
Dave.

The 911 if I ever get one will be something which is a few years off yet, much as I would love one I really like the Hatchback STi and in real world terms it's the better car for my current needs.

Haha!! Don't worry lads I think he'll be selling up just yet
The Carreras are great value now though as long as you get a decent one to start with. I've just been offered a Carrera 4S Convertible though if it's of interest to anyone?
I haven't bought it but can get the details if required

After having driven the S202 yesterday on the Mid Wales run I have to say it's a great car, it is very very raw to put it mildly compared to many more modern models but it is all the greater for it. But as with most things I do tend to get every so slightly bored with the status quo, plus I would like a few more comforts whilst also being more practical as well. I did have my mind made up on a Forester STi but also came across a Hatchback STi at a very good price, so as it's newer, more refined and a better driver's car I went for the Hatchback STi. I do plan some modifications to personalise it myself, these being: Genuine STi Alternative Front Grille Revolution Catback Exhaust System R205 Rear Diffuser And Exhaust Finishing Trims (image borrowed from another member) R205 Carbon Fibre Wing Badges Prodrive GT2 Alloy Wheels Plus of course given the reputation of the 2.5 I will also be getting the car remapped on an Ecutek Race Rom remap, and I will also be giving the car a forged engine rebuild at some future point (probably over the winter funds permitting). Oh and the car is blue of course.
Hi, we're did you source the r205 exhaust trim from ?

It came via japanparts.com as you cannot order it from the UK dealer network anymore, Import Car Parts have them on sale at an extortionate price.

It's cheaper to source from Japan even with the import duty, customs charges and carriage costs.

That 911 Carrera will make a good car for someone, it's just way to early for me, keep it in your collection Dave and I'll use it now and again, I'm sure you won't mind.

Cheers bud, if it's Japan I can source easy and cheap, my 2008 JDM 2.0 STI has just landed, like the look of the r205
