You know what I,m not suprised at all I full understand how you can fall out of love with a project you start It all becomes too much but fair do,s Ty to get some serious money for an unfinished project, well it would be a no brainer for me too.As you rightly said everything is for sale at the right price although no bodies ever offered me the right price for the missus but I live in hope

As the saying goes 'always leave them wanting more' and you've certainly done that after post 495 Ty.
I've got to say your threads always have a twist in them for sure since I've been an SWS member.
As for a Porsche it would be one of the very few marques to tempt me away from Subaru ownership.
Caymans seem very good value indeed find myself looking at them most weeks on PistonHeads but whatever you decide to buy next, USE IT AND BLOODY ENJOY IT!!!

That's the plan Kev, I really don't know what to replace the STi with yet.

Yes in time, I know already that the new owner has ordered new Ohlins suspension and a load of Whiteline goodies in addition to what I had planned.

The build will slip back somewhat but it's also got a lot bigger as well, it will without a doubt become one of the best GRB STi's in the UK.

Thanks Andy, yes things can change and time can alter your expectations and I'm not the most patient person in the world which doesn't exactly help either.

Cheers Jay, I've got some thinking to do but Porsche is a possibility as are other marques.

It definitely wasn't my intention to cause the drama but as you've said always leave things on a cliffhanger.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm what............lol

I'm lost for words Ty.

I can understand about projects getting out of hand but you have the pleasure of enjoying your creativity once all done.

Dont get me wrong, if someone made me the right offer on any of my cars, I to would consider it and possibly sell up though it would kill me doing so.

Hope you got top dollar for it and gets you your next worthy toy, we all need one lol..

I'm gutted Ty, I did like the new STI and was looking forward to seeing it in the flesh once finished, but as you said everything has a price its just a case of someone making an offer to good to turn down like the offer you have had, but I can't wait to see what's next.

Ty....Why!?

I understand someone's offered you a too good to turn down price.

To come so close to the end of your bespoke build and sell within sight of the finish, I don't understand. You've missed out on the fruits of your labour.

Even if you were offered a price that covered your costs to date, it still wouldn't replace the man hours of your time in planning, searching and gathering the parts. Someone else will now get the pleasure of the completed build.

Don't get it mate?

I got a very good price for the car Matt, so much so that I couldn't turn it down in all seriousness.

I'm on the case with the replacement car but I'm really just planning on getting something which is largely standard and just leaving it that way.

Thanks Craig, not really sure what's next but I'm 99.99% sure it won't be an Impreza though.

As I said in an earlier post the car wasn't for sale I just got an offer which was worth giving serious consideration, there was no haggling or tyre kicking just a quick and easy sale.

I think that a lot of projects involve grief, time and frustration plus of course pleasure in the final result - there will still be a final result but at a higher level than I was aiming for or could have achieved.

The new owner is happy for me to keep the thread going but it obviously won't be my car but I'm happy enough to carry the thread on to it's conclusion, although I won't be disclosing the owner's details.

All my worldly possessions are for sale at the right price too, so I see where your coming from with that.

You seem to me from all your various threads to just enjoy the shopping for parts and planning, thrill of the chase as it were and then lose interest, I used to be the same, look forward to getting something and when it turns up it's a bit of an anti-climax and I was bored again after a week, then my eyes and head would be turned to something else.

I think you should consider buying something and just enjoying it for what it is, one tends to get a lot more use out of things doing it that way, then if the right offer comes along so be it.

Maybe step down a few pegs and just get something simple like a sub £5k MX5 and drive it like a hooligan, there's a lot to be said for having something you don't care about to rip the **** out of for a bit of fun, remember that stuff it might help you get a little perspective and who knows you might even enjoy it.

What's with all the secret squirrel?

Perhaps we should refer to the new owner as "The Secret Hatchback Owner" or simply "The Stig"

Some wise words (in parts anyway) and definitely something to think about, my plan is to just buy a car and just leave it as is.

Because the new owner wants his business kept private, simple really his money, his business and his choice.

As said by others if the price is right its definitely worth considering, I would most probably do the exact same thing. If i got offered the right amount for my T20 I would most definitely consider it.

Could you possibly go down the gtr route ?? I would love to but my pockets are not deep enough

Definitely not one in the pink and two in the stink.

I'm setting myself a budget that I definitely won't exceed and that won't stretch to a GTR, I could buy 32/33GTR's but there's no point in buying one and then looking enviously on at the 34 and 35 GTR's.

I prefer the look of the pre face lift but the 2005 on has a few more toys.

I'm still loving mine and prefer it over the impreza. They really are cracking cars. Crystal grey or white are the ones to go for

What are the main differences apart from cosmetic between the two models Danny?

It's a lot easier to source the earlier model and might well be my only choice for a Forester STi.

Probably in the USA yes, they are pretty popular over there but mine definitely (if I get one) won't be going anywhere near that.
