It's a funny old world. I've had a sobering couple of hours just now and feeling quite philosophical. I'm just fed up with all the fighting and hating. We all bleed red and breathe air. We all feel pain and fear.

 

The biggest problem for ordinary folk is the people making the decisions that directly affect us all don't appear to give a **** about the people they claim to represent .

I've been reflecting, too. Hard to come to terms with the bombing of the UN shelter; assuming it is the IDF and not a rogue Hamas missile, I can't defend the indefensible.

Humans aren't tossers, its our imperfections and idiosyncrasies that make us who we are. War is just miss guided passion for most of the time, well that and money.

people giving time, helping each other, organising local events to help local projects

the twin evils in this world are poverty (which inevitably leads to ignorance) and disenfranchisement (aka powerlessness)

solve those, and even the most intractable "religious" problem will disappear

It doesn't stack-up, though. The IDF have the technology to hit tiny targets with pin-point accuracy. They had the coordinates to this building, as far as we know it wasn't harbouring Hamas or rockets or other weapons; the IDF gain nothing by this, in fact they lose the p.r. battle and the respect of their most ardent supporters. It makes no sense.
