I can barely stand to watch the news at the minute. Last week we had Obama suggesting Putin be brought to account for a crime that no one has any proof he was directly involved in yet has he made a single damning comment about Israel's behaviour in Gaza?... Nope!

The video linked above is horrendous, surely if one nation in the world should understand why what their government is doing is wrong they should!

As for human suffering being plastered all over our screens it is a propaganda technique called over-humanisation where you show kids crying and suffering basically. It is meant to elicit an emotional response, like the adverts for Oxfam etc on TV. That seems cold but only some conflicts are deemed to warrant this by the media.

At the moment ISIS are committing atrocities in Iraq, Syria, etc, we have wars in Ukraine and numerous conflicts in Africa including those Islamists in Nigeria doing awful stuff, and drug Cartels in Mexico killing 10,000's per year, ongoing internecine violence in Iraq to, but the get nothing like the attention Israel does.

 

Since 8 Jully, 1115 Palistinians have been killed mostly civillian, 218 being children. On Israel's side, 53 Israelis, three of whom were civillians.

 

I'd question those statistics, but so what if they are true?

Would you be happier if 1115 Israelies had died to? It would fit your definition of justice?

Isreal pretends its going eliminate hamas and all the rockets , but has taken the moral high ground in the meantime that collateral damage is perfectly acceptable

I don't even think they see it as collateral damage, kids are just another valid target in their eyes. Palestinian lives are worthless as far as they are concerned!

 

Unless you are defending the calculated and disproportionate actions of Israel, why would think I'd be happier if were 1115 Israelies? I'm just highlighting the the disparity in casualties of both side.

Israel is going after Hamas targets in Gaza and unfortunately some civilians are being killed as collateral damage, same as what we have done in basically every war we have fought...ever.

You obviously believe that it is purely some sort of reprisal, and on that basis all death ratios should be 1:1, then you would sleep soundly.

 

No colder than those who see the suffering of others and use it as an advertising opportunity.

 

Not as cold as to dismiss over 70% of Palestinians killed who were civilians as just collateral damage.

 

At the end of the day, it's war and if your prepared to use human shields then you'll get a large amount of civilian casualties.

Of course, the tactics of the are to blame too. But when you target a known designated UN compound filled with civilians seeking refuge, a line has to be drawn somewhere as to what can be deem simply as collateral damage.

Though ideally 0 deaths and diplomacy is preferable, circa 1,000 deaths is quite low for such a densely populated place, looks like Israel have been careful in all honesty, not that anyone will recognise the fact as the World is extremely anti-Jew for some reason.
