I used to be a big fan of F1, and would always try and stick up for the sport when people claimed it was boring, but its pretty hard to now! I think the interest is more about the technology, F1 politics and spats than the actual racing, although clearly those things have always been a factor.
Doubt I'll bother watching many more races this season. They need to do something to stop the rot as with declining audience figures, smaller teams will struggle to get investment and sponsorship and the grid will shrink even further.

Pontificating
It was very very dull yesterday and almost impossible to defend other than saying it was the first race of the season and it will get better, probably
Red Bull talking of pulling out if the rules aren't amended, is this a case of we're not the best anymore and if you dont do something to help us out we're off ?? smells like it.
No such issues with the V8 Supercars opener in Adelaide last weekend three cracking races 3 seperate winners.

Watch the bikes instead, they're way more entertaining, even allowing for the fact that Marquez might be starting to dominate much as Doohan did in the nineties and took the shine off it a bit. There's always WSB and BSB though, where competition looks like being very tight. They even overtake sometimes, even around corners.

The Honda is too good.
With the best/equal best (with Lorenzo) on it I can only see an injury stopping Marquez retaining his title.
The Michelins next year may upset the apple cart.

For me, across the whole season, WSB and BSB are more interesting.
In WSB I always fancied Jonny Rea now he's on a competitive bike. About time too.
In BSB it'll be interesting to see how the new R1 goes.

And the same for WSB since foggy' injury. I dropped out of biking around that time and only got back into bike racing a few years ago.
I think part of the reason I prefer MotoGP over superbikes is the difference in picture quality and the beautiful super slow motion of the GP bikes.

Do you not have Sky Sport?
Because I have BT Broadband I get BT Sport F.O.C. on Sky.
The picture on BT is good and the BSB on Eurosport HD is good. The WSB, also on Eurosport HD, is not always consistent such that the fast action sequences can lack clarity and you don't get the top quality slow-mos. I think this is probably because the feed is supplied by the national provider where the race is being run.

The problem with MotoGP is that unless a rider is on a Factory Honda or Yamaha at the moment they have near enough no chance of winning however good they are.
That isn't the case in WSB or BSB.

Yeah it's a shame about Germany.
There's no doubt F1 is going through a difficult time at the moment. Costs for teams are too high, the cars are too complex with a focus on technology rather than sport, the charges levied on race promoters and fans alike are bordering on prohibitive.
The sport has been through difficult times before and emerged from the flames and I have no doubt it will rise again.
As for being 'dead', I don't think so. It's merely in a slump at present. It makes too much money for the grasping weasel to let it slide too far.
You know what they say, everything will be all right in the end.
If it's not all right, it's not yet the end.

The cars look the same, the costs are too high and there's no real racing, watch other like rally cross or touring cars or v8 super cars and you'll see what i mean
They need to simplify the rules, do away with all bar the raw basics so a good idea can gain more than million setting 0.1% more from the car.
Set a max width, max length, min weight of 850kg (or similar so driver weight is irrelevant), allow in race refuling, retain the saftey rules and set a basic engine spec like max 2L turbo with hybrid tech.

The cost of developing an F1 engine vastly outweighs the cost of building one so let them have unlimited engines. Who wants to watch a sport where Friday practice is limited to a few laps because they only have four engines for the year. F1 should be about the best that can technically be achieved and not endurance racing.
As for this last race let's not panic, it was a dull one for sure, but there are sure to be a few ding dongs across the season and Ferrari will hopefully start to catch the Mercs. Anyway a two horse race, whilst not the best, is better than nothing and anyone who can call Bahrain last year dull does not, and never will, get F1.
If you think bike racing, Nascar, Aussie V8s etc. are better then great, go and watch them

i watch most motorsports, not just F1, and can say F1 is becoming the most boring of them all.
Rally cross and GT racing are growing strong now
