Well done last night. Once we equalised the first time, I thought we would kick on and, at the very least, get a point. I kept flicking over to Gilette Sports Updates and the second they announced Balotelli was coming on my heart sank. I f'ing knew he'd pop up and do us. He's one of those players that Spurs can't get a lucky break with. He caused us trouble when he was at City. If we go down losing like that I can't complain as we had two goals, which is a huge improvement over the last three games with you guys. Entertaining as always. Nice one!

 

Certainly was an entertaining, even game. Always enjoy the Spurs games. My heart sank when Mario came on too We missed Sterling, but nice to see a few of our new boys coming good. Sakho and Can are fitting in well. Shame we couldn't gel at the start of the season. Loris had a bit of an off day, best keeper in the league for me normally.

 

A lot gets made of the difference that a 30 goal a year striker makes to a team but often the keepers get forgotten. He's just as important to us as Erikson or Kane. If we don't get top four this year he'll be off I think. Shame really but he is a class above us I think.

 

Totally agree, I go to all games and have seen a lot of what Loris does that isn't always in the highlights packaged, best keep I have seen at the lane for years, even his kicking has improved recently !!


He has won / saved us as many points as Kane and Eriksen easily this season and at important times too, the save from Welbeck against the filth that could of turned the game, two good saves away at West Brom the week before at 2-0 then we pushed on and looked very comfortable.


He is a class above us and most of the Prem teams, He does seem to love life at the lane but I'm sure that can all change with the lure of Madrid.

 

Very entertaining game for me too, helped a lot with not feeling the cold too much

I did feel though the one let down was the ref, at times some very strange decisions for and against both sides that just seemed to stop the flow.
Would give a push on a player one minute then not the next, his advantage play was questionable at times, I don't think he was up to the pace of the game.

Was gutted we conceded so late on and to Mario, He likes a goal against us

Good to see us have some fight, the years I have gone up there and seen us get turned over with very little fight, makes refreshing change

Still felt even though its a cliché neither team really deserved to loose that game, But few complaints from me which is unusual as we left the ground.

I still have to say differences and feelings aside about Liverpool as a team and rival even after all these visits as an away fan when the Kop sings YNWA its something quite unique in English football and certainly not captured fully on the Telly, still leaves you almost speechless afterwards

 

Quite. Looks like Dowd is concentrating on the pies again rather than consistent refereeing. It was always going to be a fast paced game and he did his best to put his foot on it.

 

I started watching Spurs in the Thorsdvedt era. Lloris is like his long-awaited replacement. Just goes to show how difficult decent replacements are. Tim Flowers never got replaced. Seamen/Schmeical/etc. All very notable but no notable replacements. We got Brad Friedel 10years too late sadly. Reina is going to be tricky to replace at Liverpool too.

Good win for you guys today! We somehow totally lucked out with a draw as West Ham looked like deserved winners. They were certainly the more efficient team. Sam's doing a great job there. I don't understand the flack he gets tbh. 6 mins of injury time too?! Harsh on them tbh but that's football for you.

 

Coutinho's goal was superb, he's finding the form he showed last season again, worryingly.....

 

Yeah, the whole team is staring to gel, I think we may have turned a corner

Lovren isn't really endearing himself to the fans Missed some key players last night that was probably more about saving them for Sunday. That'll be the big test.

 

Well at least you crashed out with some fellow Premier Leaguers. Weird isn't, Fulham did well in Europa and got caned in the League. Everton doing the same and we both crash out.

On a more serious note, my opinion is that the agents have a role to play in the welfare of their players. With the rise of social media, so much of their lives is visible to the public and the agents have a responsibility to manage that. Boys will be boys, but with the money and fame they now have, it must be hard to resist temptation.

 

I dont know enough about 'N.O' and the possible side affects of doing what he's done to judge, at the moment I dont see the issue (that could quickly change lol) - ok its stupid to do it and then allow the situation for pictures to be circulated given he's a pro footballer and therefore should be setting an example for children etc, but ultimately he's broken no laws as far as I'm aware (please correct me if wrong).

I'm more worried about his future with us, he could be a fantastic player (if he loses some of his attitude/chip off his shoulder) and with the likes of Coultinho, Ibe, Sturridge, Can etc he fits our stratgy of play perfectly - last night showed that....

I think there's enough 'potential' to damage health (more so with the shisha) but it's more damaging to his PR and image as a professional sportsman. We've seen plenty of footballers smoking; Wilshire, Rooney, Cashley, Balotelli, Ozil (buying kit) - I think it's important for them to recognise how what they do rubs off on impressionable fans.

They are free to do what they want (within contractual obligations), but the clubs are right to protect their investments.

I worry less about losing talented players these days, there's little loyalty in the game. Agents have a lot of blame to shoulder for that too.

 

With you 100% on the shisha, I'm not a smoker and defo one of those types thats anti smoking....so does ruffle my feathers when I see a pro footballer doing something so stupid..

He's young and has money though - he'll make mistakes, dont think it'll ever be as bad as the likes of Gascoigne etc, so he needs to make them to learn from them, like Carra has said..

Humm when we lost Alonso, Torres, Suarez etc I didnt care as much, but I feel like we've help craft Sterling into what he is today - whats he been with us - 4/5yrs now...come through the youth squad and I dont see who we could replace him with...

As usual will wait and see - I guess I would just like to see some stability in our squad - since Rafa left it's been a roller coaster of a ride with owners, managers, etc etc...we're still building and need to do our best to keep talent like this, without bending over for the agents and ridiculous demands.

 

Agree entirely. The 'problem' is a very tight wage structure at the club. It's important to have one in place, but when other clubs have different structures there will always be potential for a player to be swayed with more money and promises of trophies and game time. Generally those promises are meaningless though

I do feel we need to focus on keeping talent. Talent and stability leads to trophies. Trophies lead to greater talent attraction and more money; the cycle continues. Compared to others we're behind on what we can offer players at the moment which needs big investment to bring us up to a similar level. How many talented players have slipped through our fingers over the last few years? Too many. A few lucky escapes in there too though

 

Completely agree fella - and I think the wage structure is a good thing - I like the way we're being strict on this, making the club a business that will work well - be nice if we could be like Arsenal and be in the black a bit more.

Investment is a big thing and changes to the stadium make a massive difference also to attracting the right talent - I was surprised when I did a tour not so long ago just how out of date the players lounge, interview room etc etc were - the redesign will go a long way in helping when we show potential players around and keeping existing.

Yeah we've got rid of some 'red herrings' lets say....lol
