Thumbs up The 2014-2015 Liverpool FC Thread

Onwards and upwards this year We need to try and keep up the momentum and keep pushing for the Premier League title. That's going to be especially difficult with the added games that the Champions League brings; adding quality throughout our squad is going to be imperative.

Now our raid on Southampton is complete with Lambert and Lallana signing deals plus Emre Can looking like joining any day, I'd still like to see some more positions strengthened.

Maybe Vorm, Sanchez, Shaqiri, Lovren & Markovic. Attacking options are already looking good, but I'd like to see some defensive reinforcements.

Outs I forsee are Lucas, Assaidi, Borini, Coates, Aspas, Jones, Reina and some other fringe players.

If Suarez goes he's going to be tricky to replace, but Alexis Sanchez or Cavani would soften the blow

Suarez will go I think
He's pretty much missing for a quarter of the premier league matches

I think so too, the Barca tapping up machine is in full swing. I'd imagine they'd try to include Pedro, Tello or Sanchez as part of the deal, depending on whether they would want to come to England. Sanchez suits our style of play more.

Something about Suarez to Barca just doesn't add up for me.

It's all moving along very quickly and coveniently considering he only received his ban last week, we have heard nothing from Liverpool on the matter but the papers all believe Suarez to Barca is a done deal, this time last year Lfc were saying he's not going etc etc on almost a daily basis. At the end of the season he released a statement advising he would be staying at Liverpool and the fans had nothing to worry about, very similar to what Ronaldo did at the end of the season he left for RM, all a part of a bigger plan

Barca tapped him up before the WC imo and as absurd as it sounds I reckon he bit Chiellini to help facilitate the move, he'll go to Barca and they will immediately lodge an appeal with FIFA saying he wasn't their player at the time of the ban and it's unfair on them. Otherwise he had an agreement similar to Ronaldo where Liverpool asked for one more season then let him go.

From the denial to the carefully worded apology this all seems like a big set up, some of the words coming from Barca and Ivan Rakitic yesterday with regards to Suarez were properly obsequious

I hope you dont get Sanchez as I want him at United

I'd imagine LFC agreed with Luis when he resigned that if Barca came knocking and were willing to pay the required amount then we'd be open to selling him.

Barca (and RM) pull a lot of strings within FIFA (convenient transfer ban suspension) and it all points towards getting his ban reduced. They know how to play the game. We're probably differing on the fee depending on whether the appeal is successful.

It's also in Luis' interests to move since he could be in breach of contract with LFC and open to being sued. I don't think the bite was on purpose or part of a conspiracy but it would probably be best for all concerned him to move on now.

The media are loving adding 2+2 and making 783 though.

More media guesswork in saying Sanchez doesn't want to come to Liverpool, but (as seen on another forum) you can imagine the conversation

"Hi Alexis. We're planning on trying to bring Luis Suarez to Barcelona."

"Oh really? Great he's a terrific player."

"We think so too. And we're planning on you being a big part of getting him here."

"Well that's excellent. I'm really looking forward to playing alongside him."

"Yeah... about that..."

The Barca and Rakitic comments just smack of placating the fans and justifying the fee.

"Look, we're buying the best striker in the world, just for you. Yeah, he's been a naughty boy, but he's all better now. Honest."

RM and FCB have got into the habit of needing a big name signing every year just to try and keep everyone happy.

"To admit errors is an important step" says Josep-Maria Bartomeu (Barca president).

Anyone would think the deals done

Agree! Contract was improved last season and extended right? Was discussed on here in the 2013-14 thread. All preparation to offload at a higher price. Happened with Bale at Spurs.

nah, for as good as he is he was also way too much trouble, why pay a player that much money when he can't even go on the pitch cos he's banned?

he should have been banned perminently, he's nothing but a thug and keep sproving it no mater how many chances he gets. i'll give it 12-24 months before he does it again.

Not the best performance but 3 points in the bag. Out with the old SAS, in with the new SAS ( Sterling & Sturridge)

Three important points in a tough game. The first few games are always tricky, more so when you have lots of new players, some of whom aren't match fit yet. We need to get settled with a solid first team as soon as possible. Lucas shouldn't have played IMO, but I assume Rodgers thought he was the fittest he had available.

Another striker in soon hopefully to give us options. Have we bid for Clyne yet?

Yep. What could possibly go wrong?

Mind you, £16m is small change when you look at what some clubs have paid for players in this window.

Brendan obviously thinks he can tame him Either that or he wants another loon up front.

16M is a steal, if he can be tamed (which I don't believe).

SO, instead of a biter running loose, you have the big fella kicking the shyte outta people.
Be halloween in a few months, hopefuly he lets of a few more fireworks too

Brendan shouldn't worry about taming him, make him consistent and you will have a quality signing.

I think his off pitch antics need taming, but then he is still a kid. On pitch, the nuttier the better.

I'm supporting Ludogorets, their qualifying game was superb against Steau Bucharest. Went to penalties after finishing 1-1, their central defender took the first penalty and scored then played in goal as the goalie had been sent off and saved 2 penalties to put them through It was entertaining viewing.

Not a bad window really, gives us options in most positions. Would have liked to see another defensive mid come in as well as another keeper. Still talk of Valdes coming in since he's a free agent dependent on his fitness after his cruciate injury.

Villa pulling a shock out of the bag! How?! You ruined us the other week. We fluffed up against Sunderland despite dominating them. At leadt we got a point. Happy Spud here.

Could argue loyalty (perceived to be forced or otherwise) has cost him an EPL Title, but that is a small price to pay for a very distinguished career at a huge club. If Spurs get that out of Harry Kane it'd be fantastic. Having seen his senior career from start to present, like seeing Giggsy retire and from a neutral footy fan's viewpoint, sad to see the day come around. Quality footballer. Still has plenty to offer too. I know things at LFC aren't quite where your fans might wish them to be right now, but I'm pretty confident you'll turn it around. The manager is sound, just need the personnel to match the ambition. Huge club that. You'll be right.........

Forget MCFC, I'm sure Tranmere Rovers would reinvent moving Heaven and Earth for a piece of that action!!
