P5/6 WRC budget build
Thanks for that Ian, much appreciated.
Funnily enough I e-mailed him via the website last month as I'd been told they do panels, but never got a reply.
I'll try calling this time, once I'm home.
Cheers

Yes give them a ring , were very helpful with me
Cheers Ian
Good result Ian, was nice to meet you at Brean
My front wings turned up. They are 1 ply thick kevlar, very light and a fair bit of flex in them
But! they were not packaged well and have been damaged during shipping
Iain, have your front wings turned up? Are they any good?

Hi Tom, yes mine arrived too!
Like yours barely covered in cellophane in places, although the corners were protected.
Perhaps I got lucky, but no real damage; just plenty of surface prep required like you'd imagine with panels like these, so the odd chip is no really great shakes.
My German rear wings arrived too. In a considerably better boxed package I might add.
If you want I can post pics and add comments tmw? I don't want to hijack your thread!
I'll also add I've put in a decent order with MVS too!
Cheers

Glad yours are good. Mine have some 'through cracks' which need patching up from behind before bodywork.
Share away, always good to see stuff like this, Ian's WRC is inspiring! Or maybe start a thread as it sounds like you have a great project on the go! How much were your rear q's if you don't mind me asking? PM if preferred!

Front wings wrapped very similar to mine. Yours have a gel coat where as mine dont. You can see through mine! lol. i messaged the seller and he said he's going to make a new mould and send the next ones with a different courier. All they need is a bit of bubble wrap though!
Good thread, took me a while to read it all!
Any idea where the sierra went? I know of one very similar!

Yes happy with the service I get , just not the prices lol , WRC parts seem to go off on a tangent , £500 for a track rod , £400 for a track rod end , £2000 for a track control arm , £2000 for a front anti roll bar link , £500 per hub wheel bearings , £2000 for a front hub assembly er lol !!
Is does help when you get to know where some of the parts come from , I never expected to pay standard part prices , but some of the stuff makes your eye's water , and your wallet bleed !
In Brean I have bent both TCA's , front bumper and front wings need replacing , needs a front panel , drivers door , taken a hell of a whack on the offside rear quarter panel , bumped the N/S quarter panel , only the roof , passenger door and boot came away unscathed lol , looked like i'd been banger racing not rallying at the end , only saving grace is I came away with 2nd overall behind an S12 Impreza WRC

This was the first stage in Brean , was very slippy in places which kept catching me out , you think you got to grips with the conditions then it goes and bites your *** !
Did the two wings , bumper and rear quarter panel going into the bales , then kept adding to the damage as the weekend went on.
Warning , I swear a bit , ok a lot lol NSW or young ears lol
The guy sitting in with me has not rallied for 25 years , and then only did a bit , so to jump in at the deepend was a tall order , he was getting better the more stages he did , so fair play to him , I did study the map before going out onto the stages as I expected him to make mistakes and lose himself

I don't think that will polish out Ian. If running a wrc car isn't expensive enough..
That's a decent looking parts haul Tom! Odd that your front wings arrived bare, and mine were gel-coated. They're bare in his ad too.
A bit rough your steel rear wings got bent in transit. As you say though it looks like it will pull out ok.
What's your impression of their shape? 22B or WRC? Did you opt for a filler flap?
Cheers

Just a graze compared to Jersey!
I dont intend painting any of the composite panels so i asked for them all without gelcoat. i'm on a bit of a weight drive and as 1 litre of paint = ~1kg it can stay in the tin!
rear q's are WRC without fuel filler recess

I guess they're probably alright if you're not competing against them, and have deep pockets. Like Ian says, most parts can be sourced elsewhere considerably cheaper. There's a pair of guy's in south Wales banging out some good looking bits. I think Ian is having a set of front arms off them

Hope you get her sorted quickly, fantastic car and great to see it up close.
I'll definately be keeping an eye on this thread. It's been a plan of mine to go wide body for a long time, but I'll probably end up getting ABW to do it in GRP.
The arch needs cutting away to get to all the rust which I know is lying underneath first though....
One question I have though is under the arches what is done to make the original arch liners marry up with the wider bodywork?. Are they just binned? I like the look of the fabricated arch liners like the gobstopper.
Great project
I'll be watching with immense jealousy

I know someone near me that can make steel panels , he charges £1000 for a quarter panel , and £500 for a steel wing , which are based on a standard front wing the same as my WRC car was
Cheers Ian
