Over in France, near our property, there's a restaurant that does FIVE courses, plus coffee and drinks with the meal, for under €40 for two.
And the food is superb.....

Nope, evenings.
The meals start at €15 and rise to €25, but the dearer ones contain stuff I don't really like, like foie gras.
The lunchtime menu is €11, and that's four courses inc coffee.
The place is just inside the northern part of the Dordogne, right off the beaten track in a place called St Barthelemy.
Driving back to our property is through a hard wood forest, winding roads and deer, sometimes even a wild boar.
Great drive. Sadly the Scoob no longer goes: the French are doing away with 98 octane fuel, (apparently no-one needs it) and petrol is almost £1.50 a litre. At 25mpg it's daft. Here and back is close to £425 in fuel!!!!!

I rarely drink in Scunthorpe (where Jeff refers too - it has several rough areas but on a weekend the decent area of the town center where the bars/pubs are at is descended upon by the suddenly rich benefit scroungers and **** heads), and prefer to attend events I'm either DJ'ing at or have an interest in. These range from Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, areas like that. Drinks totally range from £1.50 for a bottle of cheap Carlsberg **** to £4-5 a bottle of cider like Magners. totally all over the place prices and I usually stick to the cheaper stuff as it gets sweated out anyway
A sneaky thing some establishments hosting events do now is suddenly without notice raise drinks prices just as people are tanking up. Good example was 2 weekends ago for Easter Sunday. Place in Manchester called South where Carlsberg was £2 a bottle at 5pm. Come 8pm it went to £3! But other drinks like Desperado (£3.80) or Sol (£3.10), went all over. Desperado dropped to £3.50 and Sol went up £3.45 LOL.
I hit the tap water (no, not because of drugs - not my thing) at about 2-3am anyway, which saves a kicking headache the next day. Fortunately I'm not like the ones on here who obviously have drank to the extent they have that they can "tolerate" at much beer as they do. I'm a cheap date, even for a fat ****

You would have had a heart attack if you paid £150 for a bottle of vodka at one of the so called trendy bars in Birmingham that I went to not long back, Was out for a stag do with a few mates from school, and this one bar you had to spend a minimum of £500 to get a top table and a couple of my idiot mates was buying £150 bottles of vodka!!
Thing that p1ssed me off was when you bought a drink at the bar, the barmaid would give your change back on a silver platter so you would leave the change on there!!!!

I was at The Belfry last night near Tamworth, was £14.20 for 2 archers and lemonade and a vodka and diet coke, singles!
Pint of lager was £4.10 I think, might have been £3.95, but 1 pint and 4 jagerbombs was over £26.
****ing hell, go to chester and you can get a jagerbomb for 2quid, and go to wrexham and it's 5 shots of jäger for £5 lmao!!!

I noticed this as well, the later the night gets, the more expensive the drinks get.
Our local wetherspoons, start off the night at 2.50 for a double vodka and coke, I was drinking 1.99 pints of carling because I was skint, as the night went on and everyone got more and more drunk the price starts creeping, what was a £4.50 round was becoming a 9.00 round!
Everyone else is so **** faced they didnt notice, unfortunately for the manager I am one of these people that has drank so much over the years (as per Chocolate_obrians post) that even at gone midnight and 12 pints down I am still sober as a judge lol.
I got the manager down and had a right 2 and 8 with him about it, nearly got thrown out by the bouncers, but I won in the end and got 20quids worth of free drinks so I would shut up and he could continue to rob all the other drunken idiots.... *rolls eyes*

Since having kids I never go out anymore. Grandparents live too far away for impromptu baby sitting. Mind you what I save on going to the pub I probably spend on them now
