Small bit of progress.
I played butcher yesterday to allow me to build my rear Frankenbumper

With a bit of careful trimming the piece was tacked into place allowing me to run Bug lights with a Blob bumper

Just need to fully plastic weld the joint and dress back, then ditto on the other side! I can then give both sides a quick skim and sand should see it ready for paint!

The side profile of the Blobeye bumper matches the side profile of the car without skirts better than the bug bumper does. Putting Blob lights in would just make it look like a Blob front the rear, which I don't want. So modded bumper with Bug lights it is
(plus it's different! - Its the small detail changes that make the difference

Think I'll just send this facelift bumper I have down to you Trev. Needs prepping, headlight washer holes filled and painted.
I'll include a larger packet of Haribo's to cover your time and costs.

Been busy finishing off the rear bumper!
Both sides fully plastic welded! Getting a dab hand at this now!

Got to play with some flaps...... On the flap wheel
- to dress the welds back!

Finally a bit of prettying up. The swage lines above and below the plate have gone too. Quite pleased and I've definitely got the smooth rear I was after

Cheers fella
Got hold of a straight WRX front bumper - which I then proceeded to chop up
Cut the numberplate mount out.......

....... and plastic welded it flush along with the towing eye cover. More tomorrow!

Couple of pics whilst outside today

Lovely job!
What are you using to weld the plastic? I know it's been done for years by body shops, but something I've never done myself yet.

Cheers, I'm literally using an old soldering iron and bits of old bumper as filler sticks! Works a treat!!
Front bumper is taking shape! Side vents filled, towing hook and number plate mount filled and dressed back ready for a skim.

I know they're awful
New wheels are here, not revealing them until they're fitted. Safe to say not many (if any) have them
You do know I'm actually English, don't you

Like my last project I want to run with no kits/spoilers/splitters but the front bumper isn't quite deep enough imo so.........
Its time to get chopping
marked

cut

Thrown in bin

not
Tacked back it its new position. The bumper still retains all its original fitting points.

Gaps filled in

Trial fitted

The weld-a-thon begins, with my cat checking the weld quality!!

I've got most of the front welded up, just need to flip it and weld the back, more soon

Cheers guys,
All the welding is done and the front side has been dressed back. Taken an age but worth it!

This weeks job is to pretty it up
I've even decided on a colour, with the help of my family, just need to find the correct shade!
What on earth makes you think that boyo
(I actually have whats called a 'plastic Scouser' accent
)
