Word to the wise. When someone comes to view, do not drop the price of this car by a penny, it's worth 4k all day long. A serious buyer will pay full price for a good RA

Hi Joe

Thanks for your kind words.

PS I have packed up the Revolution wheel centre caps and will post to you on Tuesday (when Royal Mail is back to normal after the Bank Holiday).

A couple of points to add (apologies I forgot yesterday ).

The oil temperature gauge does not work, well to be honest it has never worked since I purchased the car last year.

The gauge lights up, but it is not reading the temperature so I think it may be the sender unit that is broken. I am not sure if that is the correct term?

Oill pressure and boost gauges working perfectly and I have the original Defi installation and instruction manuals.

Car is fitted with rear Whiteline ARB and upgraded drop links.

not impressed seen as yesterday RESSE accepted my offer and im all set to buy the car subject to viewing it and now im not even considered?? No offence B16 GAF but it seem that even you have become second favourite even though looking back over the thread im pretty sure I got my interest in first?

gutted to say the least that a fellow member can do that. perhaps ive got my wires crossed here but I make an offer the seller is happy with it, a viewing/buying date is more or less selected then the next thing a guys viewing it today, another member is now next in line...

I can't understand how a seller would give dibs to people on a car, and if as you say you had agreed a price dependant on viewing then that's bang out of order. Get his address and go but the car today PowerWrx as I'm sure he won't turn a sale!

Rob

I think you have your wires crossed.

I do not recall agreeing a sale with you and we certainly had not entered into a discussion on when you could view the car.

Had you asked me to hold it for you (for which I would have requested a holding fee (returnable) via internet banking/Paypal) as is normal practice for a private sale then that is a different matter.

In 14 years of membership of Scoobynet, I have dealt with many people (sales of cars/parts) both as a seller and a buyer, and have never had my integrity called into question. In fact, it has always been a pleasure doing business on this site.

Perhaps we could have discussed via Private Message before you posted some allegations on an open forum?

In 27 years in business my word has never been, or have I given reason for to be questioned.

ok mate, here where I am

would you be willing to fit the new radiator as I don't want to buy the car then have to pay out for someone to fit it... this is because I would have to have the bumper re painted (I cant be doing with scuffs ect) therefor im already spending more. secondly would you take £3800 cash for it (subject to viewing it).. and 3... cheeky I know but would you be willing to meet half way as its a 2 hour journey for me which is a long drive should I not want it when I see it. (not that I would going off the pics as it looks spot on) but like I say im very picky with my cars.. view my other subarus and youll see. I sold a v2 sti ra with 38000 on the clock and wish I didn't sell it which is why im looking again. thanks pal.

Rob
Rob

I will arrange for the new radiator to be fitted (hopefully the first week in May).

£3,800 would be fine (very fine).

And I could meet you half way (as long as I can get to a train station to return to Telford).

I'll post the additional pics shortly,

Richard
sounds good to me, so going off that we could arrange for me to view/buy it on the weekend of the 10th/11th of may then.. are there any other marks dents or scratches on it, because if there is it will put me off, again.. im picky

Rob
Ron 3 small points to let you know.

1. Small mark on the nearside passenger door.
2. The trim on the rear nearside passenger door has lifted.
3. 4 inch scuff on the rear bumper (nearside) that previous owner has touched up.
any pics of them mate, these are the things that put me off
Rob I have posted on the original for sale item on the forum. I hope the pics are what you need. If not I will take some more. Kind regards, Richard.
hi again.. would the weekend of the 10th/11th be ok with you mate.. do you think you can get the radiator sorted for then cheers
I hope so (will have to check my office diary but I cannot see why not). A few more photos will added shortly (boot).
I'm not here to slate you mate by any means but going off the above messages I was under the impression that you agreed to my offer and I had mentioned a date which you ' apart from checking your diary' would be fine for me to view/buy the car. I've only posted the conversation because like you I'm a long time member and I've never sold or bought on here with any issues. If a holding deposit was required then you should have said so and I would have sorted one out.

I hope you've found a buyer for it mate, it's a lovely car and a credit to you.

Stuff like this drives me insane, unless you have parted with a deposit or some cash, why would he reserve the car?

If you want it, put some money down.

If not he should just sell it to who ever stumps up the pound notes first.

All the dialogue shows is that you assumed the wrong thing. Nowhere there does it say that you have the car reserved.

To be fair you are umming and areing a bit with all the talk about being picky and "put off". Seller was prepared to meet you on price and half way as well as sort the radiator.

Imo you were a little non-commital on the actual buying it part, if I were the seller i'd opt for someone with a little more determination/commitment to the purchase as opposed to vague suggestions that you may be "Put off" at the point of viewing after i'd travelled to meet you at my own expense. The only confirmation given was to view it in my eyes.

Sorry but that's the way it reads to me and like I said if someone else contacted me in the meantime and said "i'll have it coming tomorrow" i'd say ok pal what time.

You snooze you lose, stick your face out because here comes your slap.

RA's in this condition, with that mileage do not come up very often and especially not for under 4K.
If you want the car but are unable to view/buy immediately then you send the seller £100 via paypal and thats that. If, when you do see it the car is not as described then you walk away. I certainly wouldn't hold a car for someone after a few messages and no money.
My current RA was bought and paid for in full without even seeing it..

Rob

I truly hope that any misunderstanding will not dampen your enthusiasm to buy an Impreza and that the right car comes up for sale for you.

Good ones are hard to find but they are out there, the problem is getting owners to part with them.

I mean no ill feeling to you and wish you the very best in acquiring a GC8/RA/Type R.

Richard

The RA was sold to Leon from Surrey @ 1600hrs and it is now heading south to a new home.

Me too and it's nicer in the flesh. couple of bits of paint and rad to sort but was reflected in the price I paid. £3650.

Edit to add; and a full tank of fuel.

Exactly. If I'm looking I'm ready to strike. Does anyone remember the old days buying cars? One grainy PIC in the auto trader! Sitting around asking questions and talking about viewing in a couple of weeks and small marks on a 20year old car? And a very rare car at that, can't say I'm surprised it sold. Sounds like a bargain for the buyer.

Sounds like a bargain to me too! Esp with a tank of fuel!

I am having the same problem selling my starlet at the minute, people all wanting it but no one actually stumping up the cash, loads of stupid questions wasting my time like Powerwrx was asking about slight imperfections on an 18yr old car etc.

Its 18yrs old, if you want something immaculate then go buy a brand new car. #and unless someone stumps up the money I definitely wont be reserving it or anything else

my questions wernt stupid, and I didn't waste any of RESSE's time what so ever, I enquired, made an offer, thought we had a deal wether money was exchanged or not.. a verbal agreement for me is good enough ,yes .. RESSE didn't say 'the car is yours' but as far as I was aware the above was what was happening and I was going to buy it when things were sorted.. if someone makes me an offer on my car and im happy with all the circumstances surrounding the offer then ide stand by that offer, the only reason I didn't go and buy it asap was down to the agreement that RESSE would have the radiator fitted for me and it wouldn't be done for a couple of weeks otherwise I was fully prepared to go and sort things out this weekend..I don't need to buy a brand new car for it to be immaculate I only need to look at my last RA to know that.. like I said if a holding deposit was required then I would have put one down no problem.. ive travelled quite abit to find a car and upto now ive been disappointed, 1.. by the car 2..the owners description not being as they described 3 the seller having sold it before I arrived. (daz3883 non of these apply to your car if your reading this) that is why I asked the questions to RESSE. most of you know im picky with my cars, they have to be immaculate. aside from the odd mark and radiator the RA was which is why im abit pee'd off by the whole thing..

anyway..ditchy if you have bought it then all the best mate..cracking car.

RESSE I understand a sale is a sale even if it was sold for less than I offered, perhaps what I class as an accepted offer by a genuine buyer is different from others. you wanted to sell it, you sold it.. ill keep looking for the right car for me..if I have to ask questions to ensure the car and sale are what im looking for ill do that.
