Just had some very good service from UK E Cig store where i ordered my Smok Big Baby Beast from.
I rang them just to make them aware really that the coils which i got in my Big Baby Beast kit were only lasting 2 days before they were giving you a burnt dry hit taste, and was wondering if anyone else had reported similar.
I said to them that it's obviously not there fault, but their maybe a problem with some of the Smok baby coils not soaking up the fluid as they should hence giving you dry/burnt tasting hits. I said that i had primed them correctly and built up the wattage slowly and used them within the recommended range which is written on the coils.
He apologised and they are sending me a pack of the more expensive T6 coils FOC via next day Royal Mail, that's brilliant customer service, i wasn't expecting a free pack and i wasn't ringing up to get anything for free, just some advice or something different i could try based on their experiences etc. He said i was doing everything right, probably just a bad batch of coils in the kits.
I've been using the OBS V tank for 2 weeks and impressed with it.
I loved the OBS v3 RTA I had so went for the V,unfortunately there wasn't a RBA available at the time so this tank came with 3 premade BIG coils,at £19.99 thought it was a good deal,it has the top/side fill which I like and came with 2 mouth pieces, fortunately it is compatible with the TFV8 coils and I have the TFV8 RBA which is a good size deck to build on
These Smok coils are baffling me, they are a bit annoying as well.
As an example, the coil which i'm using at the min is a V8 Baby T6, it's a 0.2ohm coil. It says on the coil 40 - 130W, best 70 - 90W, you can't even get anywhere near 70W otherwise it will start to give you a horrible burnt taste, i'm having to vape this coil at 48W because if you go any higher you can taste it's about to start giving you a burning taste.
The current coil was soaked overnight in 80VG/20PG juice, i started at 27W and slowly built up the wattage.
This is the 3rd different type of coil for this tank that has done this, both the ones that came in the kit did this as well.
But get the 0.15ohm X4's mate they perform and last the best.
The recommended wattage is subjective though, just vape at what is best for you, which you have already found, you don't need to max it out. In the V8 tanks i don't tend to vape any higher than 55-60W. Have tried 100W+ but it's too warm for a daily. I use the RBA though, so using cotton bacon, the cotton n coil build is the key.

I've got the 0.15ohm X4's here ready to use at some point, i ordered 2 packs from the place you recommended. I wanted to use this pack of T6's first to see how they go.
Would it be better to try and get some juice that is 80PG/20VG instead of the 80VG/20PG that i'm using at the min, my main aim with an ecig is to get the best flavour i can with a good hit.
Why is it most places seem to sell their juices with a higher ratio of VG like 80VG/20PG as an example, VG from what i've read is mainly for vapour reproduction for cloud chasers etc, and PG is for better flavour and a better hit, surely that's what people want, a better hit and better flavour ?
80/20 pg/vg is an unusual mix to be honest, most people favour higher VG for a smoother vape, not just clouds, but it is personal preference.
I use 70/30 VG/PG and sometimes max VG as the flavour concentrate has the PG content anyway, i get tons of flavour either way.
If you want good throat hit you certainly want a higher PG content, but maybe try 60/40 PG/VG or even 50/50 instead, 80/20 PG/VG is too high in PG imo.

Touch wood the 0.15ohm X4's have been really good so far, i'm on my 4th day with them, the flavour they produce is really good, they also produce a lot of cloud.
I weakened down my 80VG/20PG with some other fluid i had lying around so it was a lot thinner, i've gradually been increasing the VG ratio each time i fill up so i'll see how it goes, so far really good and they seem a lot better than the so called better T6 atomisers.
I'm only vaping at 40W as well and it's giving me a really good vape, they are rated in the best region at 40W - 60W, i'm happy sticking at 40W.
Pros, change flavour easy as you simply just drip your new flavour over emptying a tank and cleaning out. More flavour, more hit, more cloud. Easier to build as you have larger base(more space).
Cons- more messy(so i have found), dripping on the wicks every 4 or 5 vapes so a little inconvenient out and about.
Can buy a decent tank for £15-£20, so worth a go anyway imo, even if its just for use at home. That way for ease, you can swap round and take a tank out and about.
As above plus you have to carry juice around with you, so not ideal when out/at the office etc.
Also you only can get a handful of hits from a drip, so you have to repeat often when chain vaping.
This is why squonkers exist, so instead of dripping directly you squeeze a bottle that holds the juice to top up the atty/wicks.
There are literally thousands of options to choose from be it a RDA, tank (RDA/RDTA) or squonkers.
Flavour n clouds is on another level to subohm tanks, I've tried both RDA and a squonker and found it to be a bit too much for me, personal preference. If you like it though you probably won't ever want to go back to a subohm tank.

I make take a look at a squonker as i don't think a dripper would be for me, it sounds a bit messy and inconvenient having to drip e juice onto the cotton every 5 drags or so.
What are the best squonker tanks out there that you've heard of or tried ?

Dude theres so many to choose from, some popular ones i know of are;
Well after my 1st alien falling apart after a drop , then replaced with a 2nd( as I really like the mod). This one has now packed in, screen went a bit funky then ok, then now won't function. Staying away now from gadget smok, with bells n whistles I don't need, simple kangertech 160 was chosen. Stainless for hard wearing, simple in today's mods....give it a go. Only early days but nice and solid. Little big compared to the alien but not too big to be an issue.
Single cell mods are easier day to day for carrying, just vape time is poor. So for my daily use, dual cells it has to be.
I need a spare mod so i'm going to order the Wismec Predator 228w & the Elabo Tank, may as well give the tank a go while i'm at it as it's only around $14 extra, i'll order some of the threadless coils as well.
Interesting, that is a problem with all these Chinese mods. QC can be hit/miss at best , just a case of research and ideally not buying as soon as they come out.
Too late for me as I already put my order in yesterday,I did go for the brushed silver tho which is on pre order until 10/06 so maybe the problem will be sorted?
If not I'm sure it's fixable if it does break.
I wouldn't worry about it, as ven says most chinese mods have QC issues and it's just bad luck if you get a dog, the alien included has a lot of different issues, with the screen, batt door, firmware updates not working. Mines been spot on so far, nothing wrong with it.
So what happened to this deadline around the 19th of May where retailers could only sell 10mg bottles of e-cig fluid and they could only sell smaller capacity tanks ?

TPD actually kicked in last year, vendors had up until the 20/5 to sell off any pre-TPD stock before then. You will still see people selling non TPD compliant tanks n juice on ebay though.

It's ridiculous, I'm considering going back to the tobacco and I doubt I'm alone. Why are they trying to cripple something that's no doubt saved them a fortune in future care.

Because £££ from tobacco revenue > savings in health care.
Don't do that, that's exactly what the gov wants you to do! You should have started DIYing your own juice. Or you can buy the larger sized bottles from China or established ebay shops, same applies for new/large tanks anyway.
TPD is the biggest load of ill-informed bollocks i've ever come across. It's so badly thought out that the tank size limitation doesn't even apply to drippers/squonkers as they don't use tanks! The 10ml bottle size restriction applies because the MP's were concerned that children could handle the bottles, well if that's the case why aren't substances like bleach limited to small bottles? Ignoring the fact that 99% of retail juice have child locked caps.
Fuck the TPD.
