Items blokes obsess over
This week I've been looking at padlocks. I thought the one securing my shed was good, and it is, except if you know what you're doing, it takes just six seconds to undo without the key.
There are lock picking forums, and numerous YouTube videos of people showing off how quickly they can undo the latest padlocks with just a few bits of bent metal. And it's clearly not thieves doing it, just folks who like the challenge.
Does being paranoid count as an obsession too...?

I've been picking locks for as long as I can remember for exactly that reason, I had no idea there were forums for lock pickers.

I built the garage last year pretty much alone apart from the concrete base and concrete layer that goes on top of those thermal blocks you speak of, that was fun too especially once I got above 1.5m and it's 2.7m high.I seriously think i'm a bit mental. The roof on the house is about 7/8m to the ridge, not sure what that is in feet i've gone all metric being out here.

Music is my obsession currently, namely collecting vinyl. I keep finding bargains and driving around the country to collect them.
Small compared to many DJ's but guess around 3,000-4,000 currently in my 'man-cave' upstairs along with some of my CD collection and DJ'ing equipment.
Few pics after a sort around of furniture,

For space-saving as the deck stand I built years previous was "full", I picked up some MDF boarding from Wickes and built myself a twin CDJ stand and separate speaker stands for my KRK studio monitors,

It's constantly evolving when I shuffle the storage about and there's quite a few more unsorted records to go through after two more recent purchases.
It's my little hideaway in the house.

ScoobyWon't - where that based? Quite ridiculously cool and I'm a serious coffee fan too. Dpb- looks like a surfboard to me… :-)

I'm in Croatia, serving time breaking and humping rocks for my sins
I think this place is probably my biggest obsession, god knows what i'll do when I eventually finish it.

Loving that music room COB, wanting something like that myself so I can play all my dads old records and the few I have from my funk days, blast out some Parliament and shake my funky stuff.
There's my little eclectic collection too, which includes Old Skool and a few random records.
I'm also just in the process of getting some custom made DJ ear plugs made to slave off tinnitus and further hearing damage. £145 for protecting my hearing is nothing.
Anyway I think this had turned into a "look at all my toys" thread! What I meant was the strange obsession, almost always with blokes, for items that really aren't that interesting to 99.9% of people; there's usually a forum or two dedicated to each type of item; oh how I laughed when I saw a torch forum. Oh how I surruptiscously found myself looking at it when I wanted another Fenix...
What weirdos they are on watch forums. Suddenly they seem quite helpful...

Push bikes, tools and stickers -surprised nobody has mentioned them yet, or is it just a BMX thing?
...planning knocking down my current garage\workshop and building a new fantastical thing take up quite a bit of time too

Torches... don't get me started. Back in the day when I was pretty into them I used to be on candlepower forums... expensive! LOL.
I probably spent a couple of grand over the years, I even had one custom built back in 2006 ish by a guy in the states. Still pretty decent even now (not LED though). Currently use a Fenix TK35 for day to day use - excellent bit of kit but eats batteries.

My bike light was a few hundred quid too; oh dear... It's bright though!
Most (worth knowing) on here know I'm a dance head, specifically Trance & Progressive. But I've also got a lot of the House music spectrum (Deep, Chicago, Progressive, Electro etc), a lot of Hard House/Hard Trance and a growing collection of Minimal/Banging Techno.

Strangely I have zero interest in DIY which is partly why we still rent. A weekend spent cleaning the cars, doing the garden, etc; no problem. A day spent doing DIY or similar- on a par with shopping at a huge outlet centre to me; agony.

As for the look at all my toys thing, what else is all this stuff if not grown mens toys, swapped my Tonka toys for a 4x4 and a pick up, scalextric for a Subaru, mechano for scaffold etc, etc.
I find it quite therapeutic and satisfying, keeps me fit too, no need to go to a gym when you move a couple of tons of rocks a day along with all the associated sand and cement, i'm fitter than iv'e been in a while, not sure what i'd lift in a gym but i'll out graft most people.

Yeah, I'm the same. I have a drawer full of quality led torches from the likes of sunwayman, thrunite, tiablo etc. I'm just as bad with watches and have taken to collecting various diver watches and modifying them too.
I just about kept the watch thing under control; four G Shocks (two quite expensive) then a nice auto Seiko. Started looking at stuff like Hydroconquests and Omega Planet Oceans (which I still love) then saw sense. Now that's an obsession that can get out of control; I know a total watch fanatic who earns quite good money but spends like he's a completely loaded; Thinks nothing of dropping £25k on a JLC or similar. Crazy!

I didn't even spend £25.00 on my G-Shock!
