Items blokes obsess over
What is it with some items that just have me and many blokes completely obsessing?
Torches/bike lights - I have two weapons grade Fenix torches and two super powerful bike lights. All are a bit OTT but I really like them. Bikes (pedal): A £500 MTB would probably be fine. But I've completely replaced and upgraded every part of my £1200 2007 Stumpjumper and it's now a very blingy £3000+ Cotic Soul And just now: Multitools - Oh no my Gerber Suspension just isn't enough (actually it is) - it looks a wee bit cheap and it doesn't have many screwdriver bits. Oh and I just snapped the file (which I never used) on my tiny pocket Leatherman. The £50 Skeletool would be fine. Oh but the Wave looks a bit better and only £65 on Amazon. Oh f**k it, why not spend £120 on a bloody Titanium Charge TTI with a hunter quality blade and more tools than I'll ever use. ARRGHHHH!!!!! :cuckoo: :lol1: |
frying pan and the toilet :)

I'm not complaining, my Cannondale is still riding very nicely thanks to your relentless need to upgrade, thanks Mattee :thumb:
I have to admit though, that it too has gone through a similar evolution, even the paint has been changed :D Everything else I obsess over is strictly old skool though, cars, bikes & tools :) Even the wife is older than me :lol1: |
Hard to find a women interested in cars.Never spoken to a women about Hi-Fi.
Any out there? |
Torches..over the years, yep. I even MADE one as a kid with an old car battery and a hand held Lucas spotlight. My dad stopped me using it out of the bedroom window though, the neighbours weren't happy.
That moved onto lights on the car: my Escort had 440W of light in the days before 100W bulbs: the headlights were Cibie Biodes with TWO H1 bulbs, one for main beam, one for dip, and there were a pair of Super Oscars and a pair of Oscars. Push-bikes, yep. Bought a Raleigh Titanium framed bike years ago for a knock-down £650. It now has Hope discs, a carbon rigid fork, a full XTR groupset apart from brakes, and I've even had the frame altered professionally to carry discs at the rear. It weighs in at 21.5 lbs. I've also built one for one of my lads on a Scandium frame with XT and LX bits and that one weighs the same. |

Yep, bike tools get me too. And I don't really need it but I got one of those Halfords Professional zillion piece tool sets (sockets, Spanners, etc) half price and I love it; I really should build a car or something one day.
I always have to have multiples of every sort in the house even down to those CR2022 flat type batteries and obscure halogen light bulbs that we use for the perimeter lights |
Do boobs count? I like boobs
Trainers and wheels are my main vices |
Watches ... what is it with watches?
Torches ... one in every car, one in every room in the house! Tools ... oh, I love tools - I have tools I haven't even touched - and only the best professional ones too! Sticks/pieces of Wood ... handy to stir the paint with. |
Tits, legs and arse.
But yeah LED bulbs/torces and batteries are a bit of a obsessive weakness. Done the expensive ones, now I'm buying cheap stuff: I've got a Ultrafire replica (which itself is a copy of a Surefire :lol1: ) The ultrafire copy is proving to be as reliable as the genuine Ultrafire (which failed from a dodgy driver circuit - was going to replace the LED driver but for a £18 torch, why bother? ). My favourite at the moment is a Xperitus Beastlite...Cree XML-U2 LED, takes two 18650 batteries. Not as bright as some due to the plastic optics, but its a quality item....that cost £16 including charger and batteries! :lol1: Only annoying issue is next mode memory  Got some 14500 batteries on order for my Cree Q5 mini flashlights; I tested the Q5 the on a 18650 and the difference in output to a AA batteries is pretty impressive, so I had order some AA size li-ions (14500). Currently reasrching some more cheap LED bulbs for the house as some of the CFLs are now starting to die and I want to go further in reducing power consumption...the lounge is now lit with eight 3watt bulbs which cost about £25 for all the bulbs. It originally was eight 40watt bulbs so they should pay off pretty quick. :) I lost interest in watches (unless they are cheapies or antiques); They costs too much, the expensive ones cost more to maintain and if its not a in-fashion brand, it depreciates like a brick. |

actually, come to think of it Light bulbs and batteries are two others
I always have to have multiples of every sort in the house even down to those CR2022 flat type batteries and obscure halogen light bulbs that we use for the perimeter lights Watches too - never spent all that much but something about them just grabs me and has me checking Ebay, Google Shopping, etc for hours! Four G Shocks and a fairly nice Seiko Automatic later and I think I've got over that one. Ali - I have two TK Fenix torches, both over 400 lumens. Both can be blown up, immersed and they'll still be fine. They also take those batteries; which of course I had to buy the "best" examples of. Total overkill! Half the problem is it's just too easy these days! |
might be time for a gratuitous tool shed shot
very messy - it is on my list to completely revamp and tidy on the next warm spring day https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7096/...7439ec37ce.jpg and oh so easy - the other day, browsing Amazon I bought a set of trim removing tools |

My LED Torches are from Poundland - they included the batteries too!
I hear a snigger, but they are surprisingly good! |

I'm amazed no one has mentioned porn yet !
But yes got much the torches 2 fenix ones 200lm and a 840lm and a surefire, fancy Marin mountain bikes that cost more than some peoples cars, tools etc. Matteboy on the multitool front have a look at the victorinox swisstools, my opinion is that they make the leathermans look and feel cheap ! Do I really need any of them no - but need and want are 2 v different things. Richard |
It's totally computers for me.

Porn?
Isn't that just so boring? When asked if I had ever watched Porn on the Internet, I simply said, "I've cum across it once or twice" That's a joke by the way, I think it's disgusting and you w4nkers should be ashamed of yourselves!! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . |

What's that can hardly see any tools :lol1: must admit to having a weakness for tools, but it is justified in that I very rarely pay anyone to do anything for me instead preferring to buy the tools and DIY, after 30yrs you can't begin to imagine the collection I have, including things like sand blaster, cement mixer, compressor,welder,2 generators almost every power tool and hand tool that exsits, most recent acquisition is a matabo air gun, starting to get into air tools now, need a bigger compressor.:Suspiciou :lol1:
