Over Turned Tank Transporter
A few Pictures of the New Tank Transporter that over turned on the A31 last week.
By the way the Tank on the back is a Challenger Armoured Repair and Recovery Vehicle (CRARRV).

Great pics!
but British Army cut backs are getting beyond a joke!
In the second picture down you can see in the background the recovery truck they sent out.

Should be ok for parts & a bit of filler & spray paint as the last picture shows a convenient Halfreuds in the distance.

Some squaddie is in rather deep sh1te. Tank transporter driver is a skilled trade in the army such that they get to wear a badge on their chest. I hope the driver of this transporter had his attached with velcro...

Anyone want to imagine what was going through his mind as it started to tip and he realised that he'd lost it?

One of the guys in my troop FUBARed an old duffer's car on the A14 after we'd been driving pretty much all weekend and he got a major roasting for it.
When I joined the infantry, on exercise the driver was the only one guaranteed to get any sleep. 2 whole hours a night. How the **** we ever arrived back at the barracks in one piece is beyond me.
Also, years ago, I drove a 14 tonner with trailer in convoy from Aldershot to Hameln in Germany in 26 hours. Apart from 4 hours on the ferry and a few stops at services it was around 22 hours driving. Even when it was your turn to sleep, while your co-driver was at the wheel, it wasn't exactly quality sleep. We had a tank transporter with a CET on the back. At one point he was weaving between all three lanes. All we could do was form a rolling roadblock behind him until he woke up again.
I still advise people to give military vehicles a wide berth - especially on the motorways.

I'd just like to clear some rumours up!!
The driver wasnt 16yrs old!
They were not racing anyone, it was returning kit back to Bovvy!
Police said the driver was going around the roundabout at 10mph or less!
What i will say is, the mil have had incidents before with this tank-transporter. Its a recent addition, American (!), such as the press day when the bloody thing was on show for first time and a Challenger 2 slid off.
Yes we dont use Tachos, but we have strict guidelines to driving and sleeping. But this tends to get waivered when your in Iraq/Afghanistan etc!

LOL at the rumor mill!!! "he was doing a power-slide, clipped the kerb and rolled it", "was being driven by a kid" sort of thing!!
The driver will be in some serious **** however, even if they are known to be a little unstable. (the truck that is, not the drivers!)
