Went to collect the tv tuner card today from my local Aldi and was told by the manager that at 08:00am a cue had formed outside the shop for its 9:00am opening and by 09:10 all 14 laptops that the shop had been issued were sold !!

not bad for the shop eh ?? 14k in 10 minutes !!!
was told that there was now a waitting list for the new stock off laptops due in at the weekend.

although I never had a spare 1k burning a hole in my pocket this week for one off there laptops !! which were obviously a very good buy judging by the demand for them !! I did manage to grab one off there excellant pci tv tuner cards with teletext, remote control, etc, for a bargain £30 !!!

anyone else buy one off the Aldi pc related specials today ??

cheers,
john..

I bought the TV tuner as well. If you are using XP, be aware that there might be problems installing the driver (I've just been through this).

The instructions say to cancel the Windows "Found New Hardware" screen and install the driver using the installation routine on the CD. When you get to the "Install driver - click Next" screen, the installation program appears to hang. After a few minutes, the "Found New Hardware" window comes up again. This time, use the Windows Install option and everything then installs fine.

I found this out after calling an 0800 number that appeared to be diverted to Taiwan!

Lots of the major stores do the laptop bargains.
I got a 2.4 P4 laptop for £999 from ToysRus last year.

At the moment, I'm just using an indoor aerial and the picture quality isn't wonderful. Visit to B&Q may be coming on....

Haven't played with the FM and teletext yet (suspect that the aerial may be no use for teletext).

However, with change out of £30 I can't complain.
