Yep, mine's an '05 uplift model with the indicators on the wing mirrors.
I did have to pay over £400 (I vaguely remember) for a couple of years before the DVLA reclassified it - something to do with the first registration date in Japan rather than the UK.

I managed to get a birth certificate for one of my classic mini's years back that proved it was built before the cut off for tax and was actually tax free. Cost me £10 but when I sent a copy to the DVLA they sent me a cheque for every bit of tax I'd paid on the car over the years of ownership. Was a nice surprise!

Hi, nice work on the car. Sounds like the upgrades have really made a difference. Am interested in hearing how the mapping goes as.. you may not believe this but I also have an fSTI and am not far from either of you....

Hi Striple, welcome to Scoobynet! Thanks for the nice comments. I'll keep you posted how mapping goes on the car. I've got quite a few jobs to do that may pop up the list above mapping now like the suspension change. I'm also running the car for a bit to make sure everything is bedded back in after the partial strip down for the fuel system upgrades.
Simes is right, I'm willing to give my life to defend my Forester patch! lol. I need to have a discussion with Simon to decide if we're prepared to see YET another FSTI in our town.
I should add Simon that I've been told that the other FSTI (owned by a lady) is now back on the road locally and has been spotted. Finally out of Adams bodyshop and sporting new alloys apparently!

It depends on whether Striple buys the coffee... then I might allow him to visit (on restricted hours of course).
Haven't seen the lady owned machine around yet, so I'll keep 'em peeled.
If the sudden profusion of FSTI's in Bucks continues, we'll have enough for a mini meet.
Mine's in on Tuesday as my nearside headlight has decided to stop working again 3 months after it was repaired... probably the ballast resistor due to water ingress, which is a pain. I shall have to stay vigilant though, as it seems that recently FSTI's have an inability to leave for a few weeks once ensconced at Adams

Looks like the other white FSTI from Aylesbury is up for sale.

I'd never seen it about before.

Finally something to update my thread with as I actually got under the car for a few hours yesterday!
Ever since I got the rear Whiteline adjustable 22mm ARB fitted I've had a knocking noise from the rear of the car on occasions. I have looked underneath a few times but not found anything to report as I was cautious that the larger ARBs can break off the chassis ARB mounts, but I never found anything so suspected it was a rear shock knocking instead.
So I ordered new Whiteline KLC32 drop links for the front a rear of the car, Whiteline heavy duty rear ARB mounts, Whiteline rear subframe locking bolts, whiteline rear top strut brace & full MeisterR Zeta-R coilover kit.
When I jacked the car up the first thing I noticed was one of the rear drop links had not been done up when my local garage fitted my 22mm ARB. This was the cause of all my knocking and noise in the car. Amazed.
So I chopped off the old ARB end links, fitted the subframe locking bolts, uprated ARB mounts, new KLC32 solid drop links and I'm pleased to say it rides like a dream now. No knocks or noise at all from the car. Ride quality is vastly improved and handling too. It's totally transformed the car now. Am really pleased. Few pics below.
Next on the list in 2 weeks time is front drop links and coilovers.

Fitted my front Whiteline KLC32 solid drop links last night and my front camber bolts ready for the coilover suspension change next week.
Car really does drive perfectly now. No knocks, bangs or crashes at all. Rides bumps very well and handling is vastly improved over standard. Can really recommend these upgrades to anyone. Has totally transformed the car.
Car remains very planted when you push it through bends now and so much more predictable to drive. Also improved the feel at speed. Very pleased with the results.
Will update once the MeisterR coilovers are fitted and set up.

Massive difference. Love driving it now.
Garage I've used loads before originally fitted the roll bar for me, not a Subaru main dealer. These things happen occasionally, they shouldn't but they do. I'm not going to name drop or crucify them about it. I don't know that the link didn't undo itself somehow. Unlikely I know, but never mind it's all sorted now by me!

So the spending continues...
Today the Forester was treated to a new cat 1 alarm and immobiliser system which is a massive improvement over the one that that didn't work when I bought the car. Guys have done a great job and really tidied up the wiring too.
I've also purchased a Prodrive sports cat downpipe and 2nd decat pipe today that I'll fit before mapping. Should help with spool and release a few extra ponies!

the Forester is so under rated.
I know mines only a SF Sport with no Turbo, but it's comfy, drives great and so practical with carting stuff about and plenty of room for two kids car seats in the back.
The STi variant must be awesome.

Don, did I see somewhere you have a wing mirror break down diagram of it's parts.. so I can see what I'm missing as to why i'm loose?

Thankfully the downpipe is already fitted with the 2nd de-cat section. I've purchased it from Scott at Scooby spares who had one just like it fitted to their forester sti. Mines already got a H&S centre pipe installed so I'm hoping it will all fit up to that. Scott was confident I'd be OK, so fingers crossed.

Glass removal will be the heat method.

Probably easier to obtain a 2nd hand one from a breakers and repaint if needed.
