7 hour WR1 detail...
I'm back for a quick visit...
It's not mine though...
I still want another one day, but here's the pics from a detail I was asked to do today.
Started on this about 09:30 this morning
Washed
Clay mitted
Washed again
Next up
Hoovered
G101'd the seats
Polished glass with Autoglym glass polish
Plastics treated to some Poorboys
Exterior rotary'd with 3m finnese
Das21e & Kestrel did Poorboys black hole
Blackfire gloss enhancing polish
Blackfire all finish paint protection sealant
Then final coat by hand was Blackfire wax
Exterior glass was polished with Autoglym Super Resin
Wheels were treated to Poorboys wheel wax
Tires were treated to Poorboys tire dressing
Think that's about it...
Turned out ok I think, lovely finish, and the metallic popping was awesome...

Always liked these when they first come out...
They were near brand new when I had my classics...
One of the only Impreza's I'd look at buying tbh...
Id love another Type R, a WR1 or a White Hawkeye...

Awesome work. For years I had been using Bilt Hamber clay and last year I tried a clay mitt and I haven't looked back since. The clay mitts are defiantly the new thing to use... Clay bars are going to be a thing of the past. I still have an opened box of bilt hamber soft clay if you're interested?

I do somtimes wonder though why people spend a fortune on details that do basicly look the same as a good DIY polish and seal.. You can even get a orbital buffer with the price of one detail and do many yourself

To be honest mate it was probably just done like that, but some people have the knack for detailing "properly" and some don't,i think he has done a grand job as the car and the owner of the car are happy and that's all that matters really,i saw this detail on the detailing world forum, which is a forum that when members need help they receive it.SJ.

Id love to see a newbie detailer do this with a orbital... All it would get is a quick flick!!!
The paint correction was done with a rotary...
In the wrong hands a few minutes with a rotary could easily end up needing paintwork...
Not trying to put anyone off trying... But proof is in the pictures above...

you could do a quick job and from the pvement it would look to most people the same.
on a sunny day up close it would look brand new. but will the owner look after it? if hes not realy carefull the next few times its cleaned there will be swirl marks again!
i think only the detailers themselfs have that all year round perfect finish!

What people need to remember is that these are scaled down pictures uploaded by an image hosting website. The quality is nothing compared to what this car will look like in the flesh. It may look no better to some (judging by their perception of the pictures), but I guarantee you would eat your words if you saw the vehicle in the flesh.
Pictures don't really capture the real amount of work that has gone into correcting a cars bodywork. You need to appreciate things like this in the flesh before making a judgement.
But yes, to average Joe he's not going to notice any difference. If you were parked next to it and you're relatively interested in cars, you would notice how good condition it is.

a couple of Qs for you
did you use super resin polish on the glass?
Yes, water beads off the glass lovely...
and the autosmart g101, what dilution and method did you use to clean the seats/plastics etc please as i have heard good things about this and am looking to buy some.
Hoovered trim best as I could with my Henry, bucket of soapy water... Old microfibre cloth dunked in bucket and rung out.
Spray bottle with G101 mix in ( guess 50/50, could be less, it's been mixed for ages... ) - test on trim first before diving in...
Sprayed on seated, scrubbed with microfibre cloth...
Hoovered again once dried...
All plastics were wiped with Poorboys trim stuff, it's light blue in colour...!
