im after some help for my pioneer sph-da120 headunit.

basialy I've downloaded dash command and I've got the appropriate cables for my iPhone 6 but what I wanted to no was, has anyone used the above interface ? when buying a wifi interface does it need to be connected to wifi when I'm using it in my car ? (I'm assuming it does) and is their another one I can buy that uses say Bluetooth ?.

if anyone's got the same headunit and/or uses dash command some advice would be grateful.

You will need to create a wifi hotspot on your phone, so that there is a "network" for the OBD2 to connect to I presume? Whereas Bluetooth is a direct connection between devices, without the need for a network. Often you can only pair 2 devices at the same time but I think that with the iPhones, 3-4 is possible. Obviously with a network, you can connect as many devices as you like.

Will the iPhone be physically connected to the HU? If so, Bluetooth would be the simplest connection to the OBD2 I would have thought.

Odb Bluetooth doesn't work with iPhone due to Apple restrictions apparently.

will the wifi not be built into the odb already though ?

No idea. I wouldn't have thought it creates it's own network. Possible I suppose.

I imagine that you have lots of wifi enabled devices in your house (phones, tablets, TV, Chromecast, Firestick etc), they all have to connect to your home network, via your router, yes? You can't connect them directly with each other if you switch your router off, because they connect to each other via that network.

So you would need to create a Personal Hotspot on your phone, so that there is a network for the OBD to connect to.

I've just had a look online and by the looks of things they create there own wifi hotspots because when you connect to wifi it comes up with an odb wifi connection.

Job done then. I've only ever used Bluetooth but with Android phones.

I have the WiFi ODB2 reader and it does create a hotspot that you connect your iphone to. Works perfect in my RX8 so should work fine on your car. I'm hoping it will work fine when I manage to source a Scooby.

Which one did you get jjg ?. I've noticed that a lot of them say only suitable for USA cars, but I'm assuming that they will work for mine as it's in the year bracket stated on the advert ?.
