Hi,

Pete's most probably right IMHO,

But also check those dust guard thingies (whatever they are)on the inside of the wheel assembly. Maybe because the discs are thick they'll be rubbing against these dust guards on full lock. Mine were and had to be bent back a little. They only caught on full lock as they are pushed ever so slightly toward the disc.

My wheel bearing was also goosed though!

Cheers
Rich

I think i remember reading something about this, has anybody got any ideas? Brakes are only 200 miles old and i guess its something thats been there since the start. the noise comes on when the wheel is turned right over (parking) and is louder if you apply the brakes.

Cheers

Matt it sounds like you have a dead wheel bearing.

I have had exactly the same and that's what it was. The noise is the disc touching the caliper.

Cheers for the help Pete. does that mean that using the brakes will **** the discs eventually (presuming that there is play in the wheel which will cause uneven wear/warping)?

Pete,
Further support for your theory i think- it only does it when wheel is turned over to right.
cheers

Matt

That'll be the left front wheel bearing then.

This is the one that gets the most grief from roundabouts and track days.

Pete,
Jacked up the car and gave each wheel a good push/pull.couldn't detect any play. Should i have been able to?
Now im paranoid that the brakes were fitted incorrectly and every stop is ******** the discs. Looking at the discs themselves i note that one of them has individual circular lines on it (cant feel anything when rub finger across) that stand out from the overall silvered surface.is that normal/ok?

Apologies for paranoia.

cheers matt

Thanks for all the input guys, took car to Lavender Hill yesterday afternoon and they found that the brakes hadn't been shimmed properly and on full lock the inside of the calliper was rubbing on the inner edge of the disc (where i couldn't see).
Not v happy with Dave of Risborough 4 wheel drive but sorted now.
