ok well cut a long story short im hoping to put a phase 1 engine in my phase1.5 wagon my only real consern is that ive been told my speedo is electric and the phase 1 is cable ????? so can i convert it to run the electric speedo ?

 

I thought the speedo was driven by the gearbox

 

yes apparentley so lol was told this today by a very very helpfull guy at bucks subaru !!

 

Your changing the engine & not the gearbox so it does not matter.
Even if you bought an earlier g.box that cable driven, you can change the speed sensor to work on your electric speedo.

 

i didnt know atall somone confused me so im set straight now and can stop worrying.
