Question Which wash mit?

Hi all,

what material is better for wash mits out of lambs wool, and cotton? a cotton one is £3.49 from halfords or am I better off paying around £10 for a lambs wool one?

cheers,
Scott.

Is this ok for use with my shampoo mix, as I would have thought it was more for buffing due to how soft it is? any ideas?

cheers,
Scott.

I prefer sheepskin (softer IMO) and seems to last longer

Costco used to do a tripple pack - 2 sheepskin and 1 microfibre for 10 quid bargin but these got snapped up and havent had them in again

curently using the megs lambswool ones there fine as long as you hand wash them as they dont seem to last as long

A lot of ppl have fallen intot he Meguires trap it seems on here, there stuff is definetewly good, but Ive had good if not better results with other stuff.

For instance I prefer just an ordinary sheepskin mitt from Halfrauds rather then athe megs ones, I tended to put a fair few scratches and swirls on my car with the megs.....and yes that was with the two bucket method....and yes I was swilling/rinsing it after each panel.

Tbh Colin I don't have these yet but I will at some point, prob
buy the ones with the netting on the back, as it's a handy feature when cleaning number plates and jaggy plastic bits. Think they only added them
recently; I didn't notice them before ??
As I said a good few lads on DW have bought them and are really impressed
Craig.

How old is it? Natural mitts (lambswool or sheepskin) should last for between 6-12 months with normal use (once weekly), provided they are washed carefully and not subjected to any artifical drying (which tends to kill them in weeks).

Yup i tend to go through them in a couple of weeks in they end up in the tumble dryer. even with natural drying i'll go through them in a couple of months. but then they do get used 3 or 4 times a week at times.

you get what you pay for with mitts. the megs ones are nice so are the mothers ones.

That's not been my experience Easily outlast the megs mitts, and no hidden grit. Run a nit comb through your mitt after a few uses and see what you find

Thinking about it probably 5 months + and its had a couple of tumble dries.
Maybe its had its day.

They do defluff themselves over time and will molt. What do you expect when they have a hard life
The cheaper ones from Halfords fall apart quicker than most in my experience, which is why the megs ones seem to be better value, but dont be drawn in ..they ALL fall apart after some time

Just testing the double sided mitts from the sheepskin store; very good 1st impressions, may start stocking them soon (after a little more testing).
