Always thought under the bonnet was a bit mucky and although i clean the engine bay regularly, I never seem to get around to the bonnet.

So out came the degreaser, a variety of brushes and a bit of elbow grease :D
Covered the engine bay and windscreen first as I didnt want the degreaser to run onto them, nor the bodywork.

Gave it a hose down first to thoroughly soak it, Megueirs degreaser on it and then agitated it with a cheapo brush and a good quality Megs one for the smaller sections.

Thanks :thumb:

It is worth doing believe me and only takes 30mins of your time not including the prep work.

It does help that I had removed the manky old yellow sound proofing stuff that was in a pretty bad way. Did that years ago.
After that you really get to see the state of the underneath and just how much traffic film, grease and dirt is chucked up from the road and the engine onto the bonnet.

Isn't it just a total awkward pain in the a$$e of an angle to get at though ! Is this what happens when everything else is spotless and you've got to clean something !?:) Well done though, big difference.

The rest of the car (except the interior) is mucky but I have reserved Sunday for that :)

The angle is fine, a bit awkward to get at the middle section, but not bad.

I hope doing this has inspired a lot more lazy gits to go out there and do theirs :D

Great job, I always used to do the underside of the bonnet on my Leon too, just because I knew it needed it to show off the engine bay at its best. As you say, 30 mins every now and then is all that is needed, and once you've done it once its always easier the next time. :thumb:
