Backed up my mobile on a PC, and luckily enough about an hour ago I busted my phone big time.......ouch!
Now I wanted to go and get my contacts, just simply open up the "file" and get some contacts, but NO Nokia decides that you have to have your phone connected to the pc to recover anything! WTF? Whats the point of backing it up if you cannot retrieve your contacts without a fecking phone!?

I am correct to say that there is no chance of recovering any of the contacts without a phone, has anyone ever has a similar situation?

Erm, I have viewed details and contacts from a back up thru the software just go into the place u have backed it up into the folder marked others then contacts, it automatically opens Nokia suite and shows you your contacts, Ive just done it to prove it.

The other week at home I plugged my N95 into my pc because I wanted to transfer some photos, the pc picked it up but when I ran the PC Suite it said that the phone wasn't connected so I unplugged and replugged the phone but PC Suite still wouldn't pick it up. Adobe photo manager popped up and started to display the photo's so the pc could see the phone but PC Suite still wouldn't see the phone. I gave up and just had a drink instead as before this it was working fine.

Cool, thought it would be automatic as far as the backup folder goes.

Now I have to remember where they are! lol
