Whats the cheapest way to get Microsoft Office (not pirate).

So far i've used a pirate version of Office XP but since i bought a new Vista laptop i want to go legit. Whats the cheapest way to do this. Amazon do Office 2007 basic for £80, is that as good as it gets.

If you work for the NHS, you can get Office 2007 Enterprise for £19.
Details here - you need access to an e-mail ending in nhs.uk / nhs.net.
There's also a student programme which I forget the URL to but that's Office 2007 Pro for ~£30 IIRC.

Remember that's 3 licenses through amazon so pretty respectable.
I nearly went that way till I checked and my company also does the home user scheme and I got the professional for 17 quid.
I've tried open office but I have a lot of stuff in excel with macros and it's easiest to have excel. I also like Outlook as a mail client over any of the alternatives.

Cheapest is actually to befriend somone who works for MS and gets an allowance on discounted software.
I think the full retail boxed version of office ultimate to them costs a mere £40!

Note it will open/save in Office XP format - just check the options, however office 2007 onwards files (such as (.docx) won't work...not until a update rolls out anyway, 3rd party file converters are availabile though

If its office 2007. You'll have to re-learn everything anyway when upgrading from any older version.

Christ, I think they moved everything in the menus just to annoy anyone who memorised and ingrained in memory all the menu and options on the old versions. Silly as it sounds, but Openoffice is more like the old office than the new MS office.
