Default PC Tech Gurus, help please...

I have an express card 34 with a sandisk extreme III SD card in my Dell M65 and unlike the stated 133x (19MBs read and write), it's writing at only 7MBs.

Do I need to set anything in the OS (WindowsXP SP2), like DMA, etc so that it will write at 19MBs?

(I also have a USB2 Kingston flashdrive that writes at the stated 13MBs, so the figures do sometimes work )

Cheers
Chef

Remember write speed won't be as good as read speed.

Driver issue on the reader ? You all up to date ?

Sandisk write speed is notoriously slow in some cases

i checked the drivers on the dell site (M65) and there's nothing that looks USB/Express like.

express card is the standard MS at the moment, which is why i did look to dell's support pages.

a lot of people criticise Sandisk for its write performance.

Lexar is popular and fast.

The speed you get will be the slowest in the chain. When you say the stated speed is 19MBs what is that for? The card or the card reader?

Next step imo would be to try the card in a different card reader. Or a different card in the same reader to compare and contrast.
