Default HAWKEYE ICE CHANGE HELP NEEDED

Tried fitting a new single din cd/dvd today, took the old double din out, and panels etc, put a pocket it but the actual player is too big for the gap of the trim.
Any help is appreciated.
I have read that you can put in a forrester pocket but this wouldnt help the fact that player is too big width wise for trim
Thanks in advance

Does the new head unit have a removeable trim? My Sony did and this had to be removed before it would fit the slot.

The player is a single din dvd etc, the facia doesnt remove.
I removed the original subaru player and attatched a pocket then tried fitting the new player but would firt in the actual surround. The foorrester bit.... im assuming that is just a pocket?
Cant see anyway around than having to cut the trim or buying a more expensive n different player.
Very greatfull for the replies so far.
Thanks

What stereo (make) are you putting in.
My Alpine went in my bugeye no probs, as has the Kenwood in the Hawkeye.

As others have said, most have removable surrounds, but if yours does not, it should be standard single din size with it.

What pocket have you fitted, are you using the original HU brackets to hold the headunit in place, and fit the facia of the dash back around it once in place.

Its just a cheap think its 'SVC' from motorworld, I attatched a universal pocket, then attatched player, the surround would then not fit around so I tried putting in the player after and it still would not fit.

When the dash panel and headunit are out of the car, does the front of the stereo pop thru ?

Got picture of them at all, just seems wierd how a standard single din would not fit.

Possible I guess if its not a removable stereo surround.

Oh dear, with that front on it, it could be a tough decision... time to chop the surround a little?
Does the opening of the headunit require room also ?

Dont forget its only the operating part of the headunit that needs to poke thru, the rest can sit flush or recessed.

I had the exact same problem when i was fitting my head unit mate. I had to cut the fascia enough each side so that it fitted. But be careful not to cut too much, just do little bits at a time till it fits. Then you can cover it up with the trim that should come with the head unit.

The one on my car looks fine but only problem is i cant open the bottom compartment cos its so big. I have the JVC EXAD LHX551 head unit.

Ewwwwww yuck. Stick it on Ebay and replace it with one of these - Car Audio Direct - The UK's leading car audio and stereo resource. JVC KD-AVX11 - JVC JVC-KDAVX11
...designed specifically for cars which won't accept the larger faceplates of some 1-DIN DVD players.
