You have wrongly connected wiring.....you just need to find where - the dip is obviously getting a main beam feed, which is a yellow wire.

Had Morettes fitted to my MY01 WRX but the offside dipped beam only works when the lights are on full beam

Checked all the wiring and connections and all seams OK - anybody any ideas. Got it booked in at Subaru dealers but the earliest they can fit me in is next week.

I managed to do a quick check last night, but working from memory of your post checked the N/S not the O/S - doh:rolleyes:

I'll post it anyway, and will have a bit more time over the weekend to check the O/S.

On the N/S, the wires coming out of the dip light unit they cannot (!) get the connections wrong as they are yellow wire to yellow, and grey to grey.

The connections to the main beam unit are (wires OUT of the lamp) - red to pale blue, and black to red.

There are two relays tucked up above the N/S lamp unit and it is possible to connect these the wrong way round. One relay should be black, and the other is green. The black relay should have the wiring plug connected to it that has the yellow wire in it (I couldn't see the green relay properly but don't think it has a yellow wire).

It is difficult to see the connections behind the lamps as it is cramped, but I have to take the lamps out to fit Vision Plus bulbs in Carolyn's car over the weekend and will write all the connections down then and post them up!

Ok, the definitive guide to MY01 Morette wiring:

OFFSIDE LAMP UNIT CONNECTIONS:

The original 3 pin rubber headlamp connection plug - if you look at the back of it (the connection side) the three connections are in a "n" shape. The top connection is yellow, the one on the left blue, and the one on the right grey.

DIP LAMP UNIT
Black wire out > to thick grey.
Thick yellow out > to yellow.


MAIN BEAM LAMP UNIT
Red wire out > to thick pale blue.
Black wire out > to red (from N/S lamp loom, two wires that run across in front of radiator).


RELAY
Brown wire out > to brown from N/S loom as above.

SIDE LAMP
To thin yellow and thin grey wires out of relay.


NEARSIDE LAMP UNIT CONNECTIONS
As above, the only real difference is that there are two relays on this side, the green relay should have the red wire connector on it, and the black relay has the plug with yellow wires.
