named drivers - cheaper insurance?

what is this i have heard that if you put a named driver (e.g woman with more ncb) on your insuance quote it will bring the price down?

depends on the insurance company, not always the case.

Mainly applys to co-habiting partners and spouses, this is however dependent on insurance companies.

Elephant is about £35 cheaper with the other half on (25 years old against my 27...)
