Question best way to launch a MY03WRX?

I have a MY03 WRX with full decat and TEK 2 with bog standard suspension and clutch the car is running 225/45 17" GSD3s. What is the best way to launch the car if drag racing?

Do high rpm starts kill the clutch that badly? Are there other parts that suffer?

If you drag race a lot then you cant really expect your clutch to last that long anyway, but the odd one or two here and there shouldnt shorten the lifespan too much.

A conservative launch would be at just over 4k i would guess, with a proper take off being from between 5 and 5.5k, i managed a 13.9 1/4 mile with my 03 WRX and i only have a panel filter mod, so if you get it right, they can humble many a "faster" car.....

incidentally my clutch is still very much in one piece...

Neil.

I find being a little more gentle with the clutch can give not too bad launches from 4k ish, but this is a clutch killer.

Cars make some horrible noises when you just jump off it!

That and 4wd wheelspins are increadibly satisflying in the wet

Try holding the clutch on the bite and build up some boost by blipping the gas and then let the clutch up the rest of the way, a lot kinder on the components and sufficiently quick for me,
