From: so much to see, so little time!
I've just been playing at trying to stitch a panorama shot together. It's not brilliant but it does show the road

If you dont know it's the highest road in Scotland. It climbs from sea-level (in the background), to 626m (2053 feet) in about 5 miles

Don't think I put my pics from November's Tour d'Ecosse up
Will have to rectify that... had a fantastic few days up in Scotland

This is such a good thread, I think I'll make a contribution of my own
Here are 2 pics from my tour of the Motherland last May
This is the view when you get to the very top. It looks over to skye
Oh, Ignore me trying to look cool on top of that thing

This one is coming from Applecross to the big badass winding downhill bit
It gets really tight & steep. You wouldn't want to fall over the edge, your car would go on fire & blow up

Great shots, wish we had roads like that in Bucks...
One question though, why is the guy looking cool on the top of that Cairn(or whatever)look like he has the gay trousers that have that flap that drops down for easy access.Or have i been drinking too much and its a smudge on my monitor

any chance of pullin it into the tour of derbyshire

Great pictures and even better roads. When's the best time of year to go up - is it really touristy up there in the summer?

They're just really baggy, and at over 2000ft there's a fair bit of wind
Excellent work with that photo
One of many fantastic driving roads in the area.
To answer another question - the road can get busy during summer - perhaps 10 - 20 cars per hour as it's a popular tourist spot. This means the chances of getting a clearn run up or down, without having to stop in one of the passing places are fairly slim. There's also a high percentage of Italian camper vans for some reason, which you may have to follow for several miles before they let you overtake
However, having spent a few summer holidays up in the area - in July and August there is good daylight until about 11pm, and the roads get very quiet after about 8pm, when most of the tourists are safely tucked away in their hotels and B&Bs
One of the best times to go though is early November. There are very few people on holiday (kids back to school etc) in the area, meaning that even on a busy Saturday afternoon, you can drive for miles without seeing another car. On the Tour d'Ecosse a few years back, we drove a 35 mile stretch of road, and saw 4 other cars in total
Trips have been be planned carefully though if you need Super Unleaded/Optimax, as there aren't that many places which sell it. You may be 60 - 70 miles away from the nearest Super/Optimax fuel station.

A favourite of mine also. Didn't realise that it's the highest road in Scotland. It climbs from sea level to 2000' and then back down to sea level again. Awesome.

Ah, good old Frederick, That site is excellent and I have emailed the guy personally to thank him for his efforts.
Another pic from the way down from Sheildaig to Applecross (before you turn up the Bealach na Ba)

On the way down the L-O-N-G steep descent, save you brakes for the bottom!
