Question

A friend of mine (he doesn't have an internet access), has asked me to post the following question.

If he leaves his car (MY99) outside over night and the temperature falls (it doesn't have to fall below 0°C), his engine emits a quite loud ticking noise when started. It ticks all of the time and the speed of the ticking doesn't change with the revs.

The noise disappears as soon as the engine heats up.

Anybody a clue???

Sounds like the waste gate (?) solenoid to me, a very common thing on recent Scoobs. Do a search in various forums on "solenoid".

Cheers
